As promised, here is the last installment of my reviews of Guerlain’s latest rainbow offerings under the Maxi Shine range. This summer, it’s all about fun colors and glossy lips, and Guerlain Gloss D’Enfer Maxi Shine gives you all of that, and more!
The classic 1960’s pin-up girl is more than just a pretty face—she is witty, elegant, playful and secretive all at once. She is incomparably charming and has perfectly mastered the art of femininity. A reflection of her era, the 1960’s pin-up girl embodies bold originality. In homage, Guerlain presents Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine, a collection of lip glosses and nail lacquers as sensational as the era which inspired it. Just like the 60’s pin-up girl herself, Maxi Shine is playful, provocative, ravishing, and irresistible at first glance.
The Guerlain Gloss D’Enfer Maxi Shine range offers 20 stunning varieties, each offering different levels of opacity and shine. I am in the mood for brights lately, and picked #420 Rouge Shebam. This is a vivid chili red that applies with a medium coverage that is not completely opaque, yet gives distinct color pay-off. The finish is a wonderful clear shine without shimmer, which is just what I want this season.
I received #468 Candy Stripe at last month’s Guerlain event (read here), and absolutely love it! Candy Stripe is another bright red without shimmer, but whilst Rouge Shebam tends towards warm coral, Candy Stripe tends more towards cool fuchsia. This also applies with medium coverage with distinct color pay-off, and beautiful clear shine.
I have included a comparison swatch below so you can see how pigmented the glosses are, and the gorgeous shine.
Having worn these around for the past 2 weeks, I can happily say that these are my favorite glosses of the season!! They are incredibly light-weight on the lips, so much so that I forget I have gloss on my lips until I look in the mirror. I recently acquired another high-end gloss that looked fabulous but I kept getting that nagging sensation it is dripping off the corners of my lips. Guerlain’s don’t! They offer beautiful shine and do not budge! I mean, you expect glosses to go right away, the moment you eat or drink, right? Guerlain’s Gloss D’Enfer actually leaves a nice stain on the lips, so you don’t feel completely naked. And they don’t leave those yucky, sticky stains on the edge of your glass that you can’t wipe away with a finger or a napkin unobtrusively. Yes, these are completely non-sticky… I wore it to the hair salon for a trim, and didn’t end up with pieces of hair all over my lips!
So the next time you’re in the market for a gloss, do give Guerlain Gloss D’Enfer Maxi Shine a whirl, and let me know how you like them!
PS: Guerlain has designed is a matching shade of nail polish for each of these… Check out my review on Guerlain Le Vernis Maxi Shine here!
