Caring for my hair with Goldwell Kerasilk Premium Hair Care
When I was a kid, I would tag along on my mother’s trips to the hair salon and spend seemingly hours staring at posters on the walls, admiring those luscious hair and thinking when I grow up I want hair like that! And more often than not, they were posters of Goldwell. Somehow along the way, the brand seemed to have lost a bit of its former shine, so I am glad to see Goldwell starting to emerge again. I recently got to experience a Kerasilk Reconstruct Treatment at Chez Vous salon, and also got to bring home a full set of home care products to try. They really are excellent, and I would like to share them with you today!
To be fair, Goldwell has been around for 68 years and their key focus has always been on salon professionals which is why we don’t often see Goldwell products on the retail shelves. But there is a resurgence with the brand, and in the last couple of years, Goldwell’s Kerasilk Keratin hair treatment has been receiving much raves. The philosophy behind it is to use high-end ingredients to create customizable salon services to transform hair’s structure in a way that will make them more manageable. And to complement those salon services, Goldwell has now released a comprehensive range of home care products to extend the results of the salon experiences.
The 4 new home care ranges include – Kerasilk Control for smoothening frizzy hair; Reconstruct for stressed and damaged hair; Repower for fine and limp hair; and Color for evening hair structure for balanced color. Throughout the range, Goldwell has incorporated keratin, which is a form of protein to coat hair strands, thereby smoothening out the cuticles to strengthen the hair fiber and allow hair to fall smoothly. In addition, hydrolyzed silk forms a protective barrier on hair strands, helping to improve hair elasticity, resiliency, and increases shine.
In addition, both the Goldwell Kerasilk Repower and Color home care product series are infused with positively-charged polymers and color-caring silk to enhance the vibrancy of hair color and prolong their shine. The Color series is also sulphate-free to gently cleanse, moisturise and protect color brilliance.
As a reflection of the deep level of thought that had gone into formulating the Kerasilk collection, Goldwell offers 2 different targeted salon services under the Repower series. Kerasilk Repower Volume Service target fine and limp hair, and using keratin and elastin, transforms hair into voluminous and full-bodied hair. On the other hand, Kerasilk Repower Anti-Hairless Service acts to prevent diminution of hair follicles and prevents hereditary hair loss. 2 special ingredients – Procapil and t-Flavanone – densifies and thickens thinning and weakened hair, and strengthens hair from within. And to complement those services, there are 2 branches of home care products under the Repower series as well. Conversely speaking, there is a feature salon service under each of the hair care series in the Kerasilk family.
Across the entire Kerasilk home care product range, I have been very pleased to find that the textures are lovely and the scents pleasant. Even the intensive masks feel lightweight and do not leave my hair feeling greasy and weighed down. There is nothing that I dislike, and in fact, I am currently hooked on the Kerasilk Reconstruct range. I had initially assumed that with my frizzy and unruly hair, the Kerasilk Control range might be better suited for me. Whilst that did work out very well for me, I found the Reconstruct range to fortify my hair strands and in so doing, my hair is able to lie flatter, and feels smoother to the touch. It is also the perfect home care range to complement the Chez Vous Express Revitalising Supreme treatment [reviewed here] that leaves my hair tangle-free and silky smooth for weeks!
