The cushion revolution does not seem to be letting up anytime soon, in fact, Western brands seem to be eager to jump on the bandwagon as well. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Givenchy has released the Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion. It is expected to be released worldwide in February, and we lucky folks in Singapore were the first in the world to experience this brand new piece of beauty artistry!
Barely months after the release of its Teint Couture Balm, Givenchy returns with yet another sheer natural-finish foundation… the Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion. Just like any cushion product in the market, it comes in a portable rounded case with a sponge applicator. As always, Givenchy takes things a notch up the luxury scale with a metal plate technology which protects the product from exposure to the air, thus keeping it fresh and hygienic. The foundation is dispensed by pushing the plate down, and comes out in tiny droplets via tiny holes on the plate in the shape of the Givenchy brand logo – tres chic!
Apart from the fancy packaging, Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion boasts of a new long-wearing pigments that ensures my makeup stays fresh throughout the day. The finish is a lovely balance between a healthy glow and satin matte, giving me that bright luminous look without having to matte things down with powder. And the best part is, if desired, you could retouch by patting on more Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion throughout the day without fear of your makeup caking up! Compared to Teint Couture Balm, this Teint Couture Cushion is sheerer and leaves a more luminous finish. It is slightly buildable, though I would consider it light-medium coverage at best.
As you can see from the half-faced before and after comparison above, the coverage is really very light, and gives a very naturally flawless no-makeup look. It evens out my skin tone quite effectively, although I still need a good concealer for dark eye circles and to cover up any spots. It has a beautiful blurring effect, making my skin appear smoother and pores much less obvious than in reality!
There are 4 shades available – #1 Fresh Porcelain, #2 Fresh Shell, #3 Fresh Sand and #4 Fresh Beige. The one I have is #3 Fresh Sand which is a spot on match for me roughly NC15-20 skin tone, which is to say the shades run light. On the other hand, it does oxidise on me, turning darker as the day progresses, so a touchup is definitely needed and/or a good makeup base!
In Singapore, Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion retails for SGD83 for 15ml, and is non-refillable. It was completely sold out within days of its launch, but has since restocked. I have really been enjoying wearing this since I got it, faking good skin has never been so easy! And on days when I need a bit more coverage, I layer this on top of a light BB cream like the Shiseido Maquillage Perfect Multi Base BB or a tinted primer like the Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer. Whichever I choose, my makeup looks like 2nd skin, and feels feather light and perfectly comfortable all day long!
