Funtasm: Manicurious x Topshop!

For a quick polish change, I decided to support the latest popup store at Topshop Knightsbridge, and check out Manicurious.  I’ve heard so much about them but hadn’t had the chance to visit their salon (just 2 streets away from my office!).  Seriously, where have I been???

Themed Funtasm, the space was decked out in comfy designer chairs against a psychedelic dotted background ala Damian Hirst.

The creative ladies have also designed special nail art inspired by Topshop’s current pop art collection in store.  How cute are these?!

I wanted something darker and more classic as I was tiring of bright nails.  Not exactly the best way to showcase their Funtasm theme, but the ladies were more than happy to oblige.

While my nails were being done, I had a really fun, relaxing time chatting with Shawn (one of the co-founders) and his staff.  So much so, I completely forgot the time!

What impressed me the most was how these guys are willing to experiment with non-mainstream (at least in the local context) products to give customers a better experience.  Shawn showed me some glow-in-the-dark polishes and I would have gone for it, if my head hadn’t been stuck in the no-more-bright-colors-please mode.  Next time!  I’ll be back for sure!

To remove my existing gel polish, they used a special gel remover that is gentler compared to the acetone that most other salons use.  The difference was clearly visible!  And at the end of my session, they sprayed on a cuticle oil that also helps the polish dry quickly.  I was also told that they use a different type of gel polish that is healthier for the tips available at their salon.  I loved how forward thinking they are!
