Bidding farewell to a couple of skincare favorites

April 1, 2014

Sometimes in life, we get carried away with the latest… but they are not always the bestest. There is something to be said about some basic items that just work, without all the press hullaballoo. Sadly, the beauty industry tends to discontinue previously beloved items and reintroduce “newly reformulated” versions just to keep up consumer interest. So, while these are still available, here are 2 of my personal favorites that have withstood the test of time, and have earned a permanent spot in my beauty line-up!

Shiseido The Skincare Purifying Mask & SK-II Advanced Eye Treatment Film

Shiseido The Skincare Purifying Mask

Shiseido The Skincare Purifying Mask

This is a rinse-off deep cleansing mask that helps to remove impurities from deep within the skin. It is formulated with highly porous marine mineral clay and kaolin to absorb surface sebum and impurities, and minimize the appearance of pores. Unlike other clay masks, Shiseido’s rendition is creamy in texture and doesn’t dry up completely with that uncomfortable tight feeling. It also rinses off easily without any tugging, rubbing or scrubbing needed. More importantly, it acts quickly – 5-10minutes is all you need! This also works well as a spot treatment – simply dab over any pimples over night, and wake up to find the spots diminished!

With the introduction of the Ibuki range, Shiseido will be phasing out The Skincare range. Which means, this Purifying Mask will be gradually discontinued. As such, I strongly recommend you try it out, and stock up if you like it!

SK-II Advanced Eye Treatment Film

SKII Advanced eye treatment film

I woke up to a rude shock one day when I was looking to pick up a replacement only to be told this has been discontinued!! SK-II’s Advanced Eye Treatment Film is a very basic, hydrating eye gel that just pampers gently. It provides an instant moisture boost that lasts all day. However, it doesn’t quite do anything else in terms of fixing puffy eyes, dark eye circles, etc. Nonetheless, I always keep this on hand for those sudden, unpredictable bouts of sensitivity, as it just soothes and hydrates without irritating me. I love this gel texture as it gets absorbed right away, and doesn’t leave my eye area oily or too creamy, so I can apply my eye makeup right away without them sliding off!

The reason I’m sharing this now, is because some counters still have this in stock. As a bonus, there is a lovely gift with purchase that includes 5 pieces of eye mask (another HG!)! No harm trying right?!

And so, I fondly bid adieu to these 2 much-beloved buddies… I have grabbed some back-ups of course, but the search is now on for their replacements! Love to hear your recommendations if you have any to share! xoxo

I ♡ Ibuki as it has changed my skin to better, brighter and smooth well soft too! I have seem this face mask but I never get to try. I also havent tried anything from SK II. My sister tried the Miracle Water and she said it is not working on her. But was looking at the mask tho.

Hi Lilian, so glad that Ibuki has been pampering your skin lots!! I really hope they will ramp up the range quickly, as it currently only has 4 items…. hopefully they will introduce a mask to replace the current one and it be as good if not better!

The SK-II Essence needs to be used over a long period for visible results. It is not a concentrated serum. The paper masks are great, very pampering.
