Put away those eyebags with Estetica!

May 2, 2015

I’m an irrecoverable skincare junkie, there is more skincare than I can ever hope to use in my lifetime at home, but still I keep on buying. But if there’s 1 item that I simply cannot resist, it is eye cream. Since my college days, I’ve started developing lines around my eyes… all thanks to late night gaming (*cough cough*) addictions and constant rubbing of my eyes. So, eye creams quickly became an important part of my skincare routine, and I’ve been on a decades-long journey to finding my ideal eye cream… and now, I think the answer may be much closer to home than I’d ever have imagined!

Estetica eye care

Estetica is a Singapore-based beauty company that started out specializing in aesthetic facials, body and spa services. Over the years, Esthetica has created their own range of products to offer their customers high quality homecare products that complement the regular services in the salons. Marketed under the ést.lab, Estetica’s proprietary skincare products leverage the latest technology with the best ingredients sourced from Europe and Asia.

Normally when faced with product offshoots from local beauty chains, I am quite skeptical as I have seen too many “OEM/ODM” equivalents over the years, and most of them do not work well for me. What gave me some level of comfort, was the knowledge that Estetica had invested in their own R&D, working in collaboration with A*STAR, a local government-funded research agency that is not influenced by any industry- or company-specific interests. And once I gave it a try, I was amazed!

Estetica OptimaLift Eye Essence Eye Cream

The power-packed eye duo that I’ve been hooked on consists of the OptimaLift A+ Multi-Repair Eye Essence and OptimaLift A+ Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream.

Estetica Optimalift A+ Eye Essence Multi-repair

Don’t let its name fool you, Estetica OptimaLift A+ Multi-Repair Eye Essence is a super amped-up, power-packed eye cream designed to reduce the appearance of eye bags, dark eye circles, and wrinkles. The star ingredient, EyelissTM, is a patented combination of 3 active molecules (Hesperidin methyl chalcone, Dipeptide Valyl-Tryptophane and Lipopeptide Pal-GQPR). These help to improve lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness and eye bags; and strengthen capillaries around the eye area to reduce dark circles. Argireline and Leuphasyl are topical alternatives to botox, reducing muscle movement around the eye area to prevent further appearance of lines and wrinkles. The combination of Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Tetrapeptide 7 helps increase collagen and hyaluronic acid levels in the skin, to plump up and smoothen out lines and wrinkles. It also helps sheld the skin from UV ray damage.

It is all extremely science-y and mind-boggling, and demonstrates Estetica’s serious approach to skincare. Upon my first contact with this Eye Essence, I was also very happy to find it in a very pleasant lightweight cream texture that applies smoothly. Within seconds of application, there is a cooling sensation as the Eye Essence goes to work, and it is a lovely way to wake up those tired eyes in the morning. It is quickly absorbed, and by the time I am done with my entire skincare routine, my eyes are well prepped for makeup.

Prior to using Estetica’s OptimaLift A+ Multi-Repair Eye Essence, I had been searching for the perfect eye cream for day use. My lids have gotten very dry and crepey lately, and it grows continually drier as the day progresses, such that by late afternoon I find all sorts of lines and wrinkles showing up. Most eye creams are too heavy for day use, and cause my makeup to slide; whilst gel creams are unable to last through my long days. Therefore, I was extremely happy to be able to use this Eye Essence without it being too oily for all-day wear, and it kept my eye area smooth and moisturized throughout.

Estetica Optimalift Eye Cream

Estetica OptimaLift A+ Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream is the night-time companion to the Eye Essence. It is specially formulated to target wrinkles as well as lift the eye contours. Hibiscus Esculentus Extract is able to tighten and firm all 7 layers of the skin, thereby smoothening expression lines and wrinkles. A compound termed Syn-Hycan (comprising of Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate, Magnesium Chloride and Glycerin) fights skin sagging by boosting hyaluronan and collagen production. The inclusion of Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 helps to improve lymphatic circulation and capillary permeability, thereby reducing puffiness and dark circles.

Estetica Optimalift Anti-wrinkl Eye Cream ingredients

Similar to the Eye Essence, this OptimaLift A+ Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream is a lightweight, white cream. However, I found this did not apply as smoothly as the Eye Essence, and so tapping it into the eye area worked better than massaging. It did not have the cooling effect as the Eye Essence, but a rather soothing one. The amazing results are visible overnight, as I have been waking up to a much tauter, less droopy eye area since my very first try!

I have been very pleasantly surprised to find not just 1 but 2 really effective eye products originating from Singapore! Both are effective at keeping my eye area contoured, and reducing my severe eyebags. Unfortunately, I did not see a significant reduction in my wrinkles, although I am well aware that even the best topical creams are only able to create optical blurring of wrinkles and not actually eliminate them. That requires the help of an aesthetics doctor and an invasive procedure. For everyday maintenance, I am definitely hooked on Estetica’s OptimaLift A+ Multi-Repair Eye Essence and OptimaLift A+ Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream! They can be purchased here (unaffiliated link – shop at your own will, or not at all!).

Ahh, I have creepy under eyes and lids, as well as milia seeds. Most creams are too rich for me and cause milia seeds to form. And like you gels are sometimes insufficient.. I am still on the hunt for the perfect eye gel / cream. How nice if I could do a transplant of the skin around the eye area.

Oh Lynette, i totally feel you!!! I’ve been told recently that milia seeds form when eye creams just sit on the surface of the skin and don’t absorb. So you need to use your ring finger, and gently massage in circular motions. Work the cream in, and whatever excess is left over that doesn’t absorb, just blot off before going to bed. I do switch my eye creams around – gel for day (sometimes i layer 2 of them cos 1 isn’t enough), and cream for night. Milia seeds do go away, you just have to not apply ANYTHING on them for awhile. Good luck!

Hello fellow skincare junkie. I can’t do without my eye creams either! I’ve tried my fair share, and there’s a handful I like. Because I use it so regularly, and they run out so fast, I always take the price point into consideration. So far, the Estee Lauder ANR eye is pretty good, but I found one in Clinique which is a little cheaper but just as good. It’s their repairwear laser focus if I’m not mistaken.

Hahaa eye creams are something I somehow just can’t seem to finish using because I keep buying something new! Also because my eye area is ultra sensitive, and about 1 in every 2 eye products I have make me itch, so those go into the graveyard pile.

  3. Oh I was like, I haven’t heard about this brand at all! Now I know, it is from your shores. Checking out the webpage to see if they deliver internationally. Thanks for the heads-up!
