Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Makeup: Glow With The Light of a Thousand Gems!

March 4, 2015

Since the start of this year, people have been commenting that my skin looked better than ever. I must admit that is partly due to my Thermage treatment [you can read more about that here] and some dietary supplements [more on that at a later stage]. Whilst boosting collagen from inside out works well in the long run to replump skin, the surface of the skin still suffers from environmental stresses and needs pampering and care from the right products.  Now, even on my worst days when I’m down with a bad cold and my skin is looking dull and miserable, I am still confident enough to face the world. And that is all thanks to my new-found love… the Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Makeup!

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Makeup

Estee Lauder’s Re-Nutriv line consists of an extensive range of skincare and makeup that harnesses the power of rare and precious gems to target mature skin with various anti-aging benefits. The Re-Nutriv makeup collection was recently reformulated, and consists of a cream foundation, my current obsession – the liquid foundation, a concealer & smoothing base duo, and a compact powder. I had the opportunity to try the liquid foundation and concealer & smoothing base, and have become irrevocably hooked!

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Makeup

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Liquid Makeup is a sumptuous fluid foundation that makes use of light-diffusing technology powered by precious gems. Incorporating the power of different colored light to brighten and create a more radiant complexion may not be a novel concept, but Estee Lauder takes this to the ultimate luxurious treat by using micro-fine powders from actual gemstones! Sapphires, rubies and jade help provide a flawless finish and jewel-like radiance; gold and south sea pearls give a look of plumpness, suppleness and luminosity. The red fluorescence from rubies bring a natural elegance and warmth to the skin, and complements the blue light of sapphires to create a vibrant light that boost skin’s clarity.

In case you think this is all marketing euphemisms, take a look at the ingredient list and note how ruby, sapphire, nephrite (jade), pearl powders and gold are all listed!

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Makeup ingredients

In keeping with the Re-Nutriv heritage, the Ultra Radiance Liquid Makeup also contains vitamins and anti-oxidants to pamper and care for the skin throughout the day.   In particular, Rice Bran extract contains skin soothing enzymes and antioxidant properties; Gentian Root extract has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits; Luminara Digitata extract stabilizes the skin’s hydration and supports the skin barrier function. Lecithin helps regulate the balance of skin; Jojoba Seed oil provides all-day moisturization; and Wheat Protein soothes the skin. Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Liquid Makeup comes with SPF15 PA+++ protection which is just about adequate for a day spent mostly indoors, although these days we are all accustomed to a higher level of SPF.

The foundation is packaged in a solid glass bottle with a pump dispenser. To use, give the bottle a good shake first, and a full pump dispenses just enough product to cover the entire face thinly. I love that the pump works smoothly and does not squirt out too much, and I can squeeze out just a tiny bit to cover specific spots without having to do a full pump.  The foundation is a light fluid that is easy to apply, does not streak, and feels comfortably lightweight on my skin throughout the day.

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Makeup before after comparison

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Liquid Makeup gives a generous medium coverage and it is buildable to full coverage by patting on more as desired. I love that it easily conceals any imperfections on my skin, including the random pimples and dark eye circles and minimizes the need for concealer. It floats over dry patches and fine lines beautifully without emphasizing them. The foundation provides a blurring effect and emits a glow that makes me look refreshed and healthy. It lasts me all day without oxidizing or creasing, and does not dry up my skin! Priced at SGD132 (or USD90) for 30ml, this is certainly a luxury foundation, but well worth the investment!

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Concealer and Smoothing Base

For an even more flawless look, Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Concealer and Smoothing Base has all your base needs covered. The palette contains a clear Smoothing Base that conditions the skin and fills in lines and pores to enable makeup to glide over more smoothly. The accompanying concealer glides over makeup to provide additional coverage over blemishes like redness, dark circles, etc. There is also a dual-ended flat application brush included in the palette that is convenient on the go.

Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Concealer and Smoothing Base before after

Although I have enjoyed using both the Smoothing Base and Concealer, I personally found the Smoothing Base to be somewhat heavy and silicon-y. It provides some retexturizing benefits but nothing exceptional that my all-over facial primer does not already do. The clear winner in this palette is the Concealer. It provides sufficient coverage for me – covers dark circles under my eyes and redness around my nose well in a single swipe, and yet not overly thick and heavy that it requires a whole lot of blending. It also stays in place well throughout the day and does not crease. The concealer also covered up the redness around my nose and on my cheeks well.  If it was available separately, I would highly recommend everyone to go out and purchase one right away. As it is, priced at SGD84 (or USD60) for 1.2gm of product, and with the Smoothing Base half leaving me feeling somewhat ambivalent, this is an investment to consider carefully. Personally I love the luxe shiny metal packaging, but it is a finger-print magnet and rather bulky.

This post features products that were sent to me for my consideration by Estee Lauder Singapore.  Regardless, all views expressed here are my own honest, unbiased opinions, and are not influenced in any way.

Hi! What is your foundation color shade? look a bit brighter than your skin color but the effect is great 😉 I don’t know is the lighting is different but your skin is brighter, dewy and luminous after application that foundation.

Hi dear, i’m using 1W2 Sand in this range, but you’re right it is a tad too light for me, but I don’t really mind too much (it’s an Asian thing). The brighter and more luminous part is definitely true though!

Thanks a lot for prompt reply! I will check both today:).
You’ve mentioned that your skin changed, is it after thermage treatment?

Hi! I’m so happy to find your blog! Truly the best once, at least for my needs! I’ve been searching for something like this for a while :), and I’m glad I found it now, before making more mistakes. I was about to purchase a couple of foundations, was eyeing guerlain parure gold and, ysl Le Teint Touche Éclat and fusion ink, Tom ford traceless and gorgio Armani maestro (hotter months maybe, as I felt its for more dry skin) and luminous silk. As I was unable to choose one, I thought of buying a few of them, I went to Harvey Nicholas determent to buy ysl, guerlain and Armani and and I’ve noticed Shiseido future solution, and guerlain Orchidee imperiale, and La prairie ivorie skin caviar…which are hopefully (!) got some skin care benefits (I’m not sure if skin will really benefit from them, but I hope), so I started to get confused…
After walking around some time, I’ve noticed Dior has two good once and Lancôme teint visionair is good too, at least it looked not bad on the skin, especially as my skin has enlarged pores (not very bad, but I would prefer not to see them at all:) ) and marks from previous acne.
I made one silly purchase already, I bought by terry densiliss, and it did to my skin exactly what you described, it looked..a little flat, so I bought their celullarose serum to apply under foundation, though it looks more as a highlighter, it helped skin to look more alive…so I’m still looking for my dream foundation.
It seems our skin is very similar, combination/oily, except I get clogged pores..not very sure if you do, as your skin looks great.
I really need your advice, as you’ve tried so many of them..which once would you suggest?
Thanks a lot in advance and my husband thanks you too, as he would need to rob a bank soon if I wouldn’t find your blog:)

Hi Zeini, thank you so much for taking the time to leave me such a lovely message! My skin has actually changed quite a bit from combination oily to dry/combination. But i understand your woes! I don’t recommend Guerlain Orchidee at this point for you as it might be a tad heavy if you’re prone to get clogged pores. The Parure Gold too will not stay on well as it is quite rich. You could give Shiseido Future Solution a try as I found that quite nicely mattifying and yet still fairly lightweight. Lately i’ve been loving Estee Lauder foundations. Perhaps Re-Nutriv might be too rich for you, although give it a try anyway I find it really lovely. Alternatively, ask about the Futurist Aqua Brilliance Foundation. And LOL at your husband! 😉

Hey Linda, these do look great on you! I think they might be too nourishing for my skin type, but they do sound luxurious!

    • silverkis says:

Yes i think it may be too much for your skin… but i’m sure there’s an EL foundation out there for you… i’ll be reviewing a few more in the next few weeks!

  5. Jacqueline says:

I love a good foundation, this looks so good Linda, I will probably give it go when I finish at least one of my foundations. A good base is everything.

    • silverkis says:

Hi Jacqueline, why not pop by an EL counter and get a sample to try out? I love this one very much, and as you say, a good base is everything! 😉

  6. Lily says:

Sounds great, Linda. The liquid foundation looks really good on. I think we share similar skin tone, since you wear Lancome BO-01 right? What shade foundation is this EL one?

    • silverkis says:

Hi Lily, Lancome BO-01 was just a tad too fair for me when I tried it on. I’m wearing shade 1W0 Warm Porcelein in this Re-Nutriv foundation (the shade names and codes vary between the different EL foundations) and it is a good match for me since I have cool undertones. I suggest getting matched in person at a counter as there are quite a number of different shades available!
