I hope you had a great start to the week, and enjoyed yesterday’s colorful mani-Monday post (here it is, in case you missed it!). As I mentioned in that post, we are in for a big dose of color envy this season with the launch of Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick!
This is a new formula that is richly pigmented and long-wearing, and was launched in the US and Europe last Spring. Out here in Asia, we will only be getting them next month, but good things are worth the wait! There will be 16 shades for this initial release, in 4 color families – nudes to browns, pinks to berries, corals to reds, and mauve to plums. I am not a big fan of nudes and browns (although I am sure there are plenty of others who will find something here for their wardrobe), but picked out 3 shades from each of the other color families.
The 3 shades I have are (from top to bottom):
These Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting lipsticks remind me of last year’s NARS Audacious Lipsticks with the intensity of color and long-lasting formula. However, these Estee Lauder lipsticks are smoother to apply and last longer on my lips. The very first time I applied Infamous on my lips, it lasted me all day through constant sipping of either coffee or water, a breakfast sandwich followed by lunch! Even after all that, there was a visible stain on my lips that was perfectly beautiful. I wore it in the first LOTD of the year here, and have been receiving compliments since then. Just in case you missed that, here is a look at Infamous on the lips:
Freshly applied, these Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks give a lustrous finish that is not as wet looking as most other “shine” formulas, but not flat like most matte formulas.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s nail polish post, Estee Lauder has released 5 limited edition nail lacquers to complement the new sculpting lipsticks, and I have 2 with exactly the same names as my lipsticks! Here is Dominant:
The picture above was taken at the end of a long day with Dominant on my lips. Whilst it felt perfectly comfortable throughout, my lips got noticeable drier as the day progressed, resulting in the lines that you are seeing there. But the color is still gorgeous and there is a noticeable luster.
And a look at Impassioned:
While I am not usually a fan of matchy-matchy lips and nails, these are fun enough, and flexible enough to work with a range of shades. And when they both come in some of my favorite formulas in their respective product category, they become utterly irresistible.
These Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks will be available from February onwards at all Estee Lauder counters and boutiques.
This post features products that were sent to me for my consideration. The opinions expressed above are my own honest, unbiased views and are not influenced in any way.
Oh these look lovely on you! They’re the shade’s I’ve been eying since they launched last year outside of Asia. I wonder if EL will continue to do this type of regional launch swap in the future. Don’t know if I like this practice…
Yeah… i’m not sure either! I kinda prefer having the global launches, PLUS dedicated asia-exclusive collections… greeeedy greedy!!!!
I like Dominant on you, Linda 🙂
Thanks Lily!
I love this line! Infamous is such a gorgeous shade, and Dominant’s been on my wishlist for quite some time.
That’s awesome! Which shades do you currently have?
I love EL nail polishes. They have such beautiful shades and wonderful formula! I wish I got on better with these lipsticks, because I love the color range offered which so many options for really bright colors. Like a lot of pigment-rich formulas, they really dried up my lips which made me so sad. These colors look incredible on you, especially Impassioned (with the matching nails!).
It’s funny cos i hardly see people raving about anything from EL… but it’s actually a great brand now that i’m getting to try more of their products! The lipsticks do tend to dry my lips up, but not to the same extent as NARS Audacious and the regular Tom Fords. I love the bright colors and long-lasting-ness…..
Oh hey I was wrong, that’s Impassioned! I’ve actually tried it on and liked it. I should probably put it on my wish list 🙂
Too many lippies, so little time! #onepairoflipsonly
Hi Linda,
I love all three on you but my favorite must be Dominant. I think it looks great with the matchy nails as well. I also like matching parts of my makeup from time to time. Especially when the rest of the dress doesn’t have any of these shades, it looks nice.
Hahaha…. i had a feeling that’s what you’d be most inclined to… knowing your boy fetishes! LOL!! ;P I think these days i just wear anything i want, not feeling very coordinated. But these shades are all so cool, i think you can mix and match to your heart’s content!
Wow Infamous looks so beautiful! I love the look of the finish too. I think I need to have a look at these again. Last time I tried them using a lip brush at a counter, the colour and finish did not look like this, so I think I need to take a chance on purchasing one.

Hi Ting, yeah i think you’ve got to apply them straight from the bullet to get the full impact of the color. As for the finish, it is more satin, but there’s a definitely luster to it when you tilt towards the light! I love Infamous, and it’s been very popular since I posted it, so definitely check it out in person!
