I am so excited to introduce the latest liquid lip product from Estee Lauder – the Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion! I’ve been hearing so many rave reviews for months prior, and when it finally launched here in Singapore this month and I finally got a chance to try it out, I was blown away. Yes, it really is as good as everyone say it is!
Whilst liquid lip lacquers are nothing new, Estee Lauder’s latest offering feels quite different from the others as it has an almost mousse-like fluffy airy texture that does not dry up my lips. Many long-lasting lip products make my lips crave for a good balm at the end of the day, but I’ve been able to wear the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potions for days on end without needing any soothing in between. It is not a watery, drippy formula, yet it still manages to spread over my lips easily, giving me instant opacity in 1 swipe.
The Liquid Lip Potions come in a sleek black tube with a window that allows you to see the color and amount of product contained within. The top is adorned with the standard golden square with the brand name Estee Lauder engraved.
The applicator is a curved sponge that is rounded at the tip. It miraculously picks up the right amount of product to allow for complete coverage of my lips without having to redip the wand into the tube. What really fascinates me is how it provides an even application around my lips without being too thick initially and thinning out towards the end like most other lip applicators. I can outline my lips using the sides of the applicator, and swipe the broad side across the fleshy parts of my lips, and the outcome will look uniformly even.
There are 12 shades available in Singapore, along with 1 Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Volumnizer which is a translucent gloss that has slight plumping effect without any of the tingling sensation that is often associated with such products. It seems that apart from Singapore, the shades are only known by their names, and so here are the corresponding names arranged by their color families:
Nudes to Browns
110 – Naked Ambition (limited edition)
120 – Extreme Nude
Pinks to Berries
210 – Not So Innocent
220 – Pierced Petal
230 – Wicked Sweet
250 – Quiet Riot
Corals to Reds
240 – Naughty Naive
310 – Fierce Beauty
320 – Cold Fire
330 – Lethal Red
Mauves to Plums
410 – Vague Obsession
420 – Fragile Ego
The numberings must be for acronym-obsessed Singaporeans because it appears to me they don’t make very much sense, and the shades don’t quite stay within their color families. Regardless, that does not undermine their beauty, as you can witness in the following lip swatches!
All the lip swatches above are single swipe of the applicator without re-dipping. There is some slight variation in the textures… Extreme Nude seems to be less smooth on my lips than the others, and Naughty Naive is less opaque compared to the others. However, I am very much in love with all the shades. Interestingly, Cold Fire pulled somewhat cool and more red than vermillion on my lips, whereas Lethal Red turned quite warm and is the most intense red I own in my lip wardrobe. From my experience, I strong recommend trying these out on your lips rather than relying on arm swatches as they do turn out quite differently. Regardless, all 12 shades are really fun, and there isn’t a single shade I’ve tried or known people to have tried that didn’t make a bold statement.
And here are a few full makeup looks to put the lip colors into context:

I seem to have lost the MOTD I did for Lethal Red… but once I get the chance again, I will update here accordingly… in any case I think you get the idea. I’m insanely in love with each of these Liquid Lip Potions. Not least of all, they last ALL DAY! I can eat and drink to my heart’s content, and not have to worry about touchups. It is so budge-proof that at the end of a long day, when I had completely forgotten that I was wearing one of these, I kissed my lil boy and left a lip stain on his chubby cheek! And I couldn’t get it off until I used a makeup remover on him!
Have you been caught by the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion love bug yet?
This post featured products that were kindly provided for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
I think I like Naughy Naive most on you but you rock all of them. I have True Liar and I found it a bit hard to work with. It comes to my teeth and without a liner it was hard to get it under control. It seems though I am the only one who is having problem with it.
Hi Sara, I read from another local blog that it got on her teeth and even bled… so you’re not alone. I wonder what is in the formula that makes it work on some lips and not on others though!
110 and 410 are so awesome! A liquid lipstick with a good formula? So far I have been disappointed with what’s out there but will have to check this out!
This formula simply rocks! Definitely check it out and let me know what you think!
See? I told you. This formula is absolutely fantastic!! Wish we had more shades here in Asia though. I love all the shades on you, especially Cold Fire 🙂
It rocks!!!! I wish the shades had more “variety” to them…. everything seems so bright, almost neon! And then i wouldn’t need any other lip product in my life (but i will probably still buy them)
Isn’t this formula frickking amazing?! It has restored my faith in liquid lipsticks, which I stayed the hell away for a few years. I need to swatch Cold Fire and Naughty Naive when I get the chance. Love them on you!
Yes and oh yes!!! Need more…. oh so many more!
