Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation was one of the first foundations I used when I started venturing into the world of makeup, and for some reason, I never revisited the brand until now. I remembered it being a full coverage foundation, that photographed beautifully, but felt somewhat heavier compared to all the new super lightweight foundations that have come out since then. And to cater to women who prefer something lighter, especially during the hot summer months, Estee Lauder has introduced a new addition to the Double Wear collection – the All-Day Glow BB.
Launched earlier in March (but it only just arrived in counters here in Singapore recently), the new Double Wear All-Day Glow BB has a light, creamy texture that can be easily applied with fingers or a brush. Once on, it instantly brightens up the face, and helps even out skin tone. Coverage is akin to a sheer foundation, but much better (or rather, not as sheer) than the usual BB cream. Stacked against some of the other BBs that I’ve tested, this one has more coverage than the Guerlain Super Aqua-Serum BB Hydra+, but not as high coverage as the Lingerie de Peau Beauty Booster. Not as thick in texture as Chanel CC, but with a nicer finish and more coverage than the Les Beige Glow Cream. Confused, yet?
I loved that the Double Wear All-Day Glow BB imparts a soft blurring of my pores, and renders a healthy glow to my face. It has a soft satin finish which I like to matte down with a light dusting of loose powder.
As with all BBs, I have come to expect a suite of skincare benefits, and I was not disappointed. The formula includes hyaluronic acid and glycerin to provide continuous moisture to the skin. Vitamins E and C provide anti-oxidant protection, and SPF 30 provides sufficient indoors sun protection.
In terms of wear time, this lasted about 6 hours on me although it has been marketed to last for 8. Bear in mind though that I have oily combination skin and live in a very hot and humid climate. If I were to wear this with primer, the wear time can be extended for another 1-2 hours. After that, I noticed some fading, but no creasing.
To complement the new BB, Estee Lauder has also introduced the Double Wear Brush-on Glow BB Highlighter!
If you think YSL is the only brand with a pen highlighter, think again. Estee Lauder has introduced their own golden magical glow-in-a-pen to partner the BB. The brush tip is wider, and is suitable not just for spots and highlighting, but I can also be used to cover those patches where the BB cream has faded.
Using one of Estee Lauder’s signature 3-minute techniques, apply the BB Highlighter in 2 “C”s around the eye area and blend. This instantly brightens the eye area, brings in light, and erase away fatigue and signs of aging! I’ve been practicing this since I learnt it, and even on my dullest mornings, I immediately looked fresher.
And here is a LOTD featuring both products below. I must say though that I’m not altogether happy with the texture of my skin lately as I have been trying out a few different skincare products which are apparently not optimal for my skin, so please pardon the bumpy texture.
Estee Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB gave me a glowy finish without being overly shiny. It was also sufficient to cover up minor blemishes and even out my skin tone. My initial reaction when I tried this out, was “WOW!” and I really recommend you give this a try if you can. The eye area highlighting technique is also really useful too and can be easily adopted into your current routine! Both the Double Wear All-Day Glow BB and Brush-on Glow BB Highlighter are available in a whooping 8 shades, guaranteed to suit a variety of skin types.
