Estee Lauder’s ubiquitous brown bottle recently spawned a twin, and it was time I got on its hot trail.
The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum (or ANR as its aficionados call it) has been on the market for over 30 years. With its exclusive Chronolux™ Technology, the ANR promises to reduce lines, improve skintone and provide hydration. The product also neutralizes up to 90% of environmentally generated free radicals before they can affect skin’s appearance. More importantly, the ANR creates the optimal environment for skin to repair itself.
The product itself is a clear fluid that is rather watery in texture, and a small drop goes a long way. It absorbs quickly leaving no residue, allowing me to apply my other products without having to wait too long. There is, however, a sort of musky organic scent to it that I found rather off-putting initially.
Having heard so many amazing stories about the ANR, I was slightly underwhelmed with its effects on my face. However, once I stopped using it (after conscientiously applying for 5 nights), I did notice a lack of luster and duller complexion overall. So, I guess it did have some positive effects after all!
Although the ANR can be used on the eye area, Estee Lauder has recently launched the Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum, to better target our eye concerns.
Similar to it’s older sister, Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum contains the Chronolux™ Technology to help skin optimize its natural repair processes to reduce the look of the fine lines and wrinkles. A few other new ingredients have been added to improve the product’s effectiveness. One of which is Arabidopsis Thaliana to enhance the skin’s ability to protect itself from UVB damage. Others include Tripeptide-32 with cell-communicating ability; and Actobacillus ferment, a strain of friendly bacteria.
I found the ANR Eye to be lighter in texture, but still bearing the organic scent. It absorbs quickly, and does not feel heavy at all even layered with my night eye cream. I was really impressed with this little gem, as it miraculously removed my eyebags. It also plumped up my upper eyelids making them look wider and perkier. Lastly, my undereye circle looked much lighter even without concealor! No matter how crappy I feel after a night up tending to my baby, my eyes still look fresh – amazing!
