Elie Saab Rose Couture EDT

February 2, 2016

It seemed like almost a whole different lifetime ago when I was loyally wearing and being completely in love with Elie Saab Le Parfum.  I first encountered Le Parfum more than 3 years ago when a promoter handed me a scented ribbon, and I literally fell in love with the fragrance at first whiff.  Since then I have “grown up” in the world of fragrances, so it was really unexpected when one day a box arrived scented with the original Le Parfum, and I felt my heart skip a beat and the familiar stirrings shook me to the core…

The latest flanker to the Elie Saab Le Parfum is Rose Couture, and is created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian whose work I’m a big fan of.  Rose Couture comes in the same bevelled glass bottle as the original Le Parfum, though it is tinted pink.  The exterior carton packaging is an elegant pink with roses embossed on it… making it a very lovely gift in time for Valentines’ Day.

There are notes in Rose Couture that mirror the original Le Parfum – orange blossom, jasmine and rose – which give the illusion of familiarity.  However, Francis Kurkdjian has managed to evoke quite a different personality with Rose Couture.  In essence, it is a straight forward rose fragrance, though of the juicy variety and steers clear of being powdery.  The addition of peony sweetened the overall brew, and vanilla smoothened everything out; though I miss the kick of aldehydes in the original Le Parfum.  The base notes of sandalwood and patchouli have been toned down substantially, so the overall sense is of lightness and whimsy, much more delicate though not ephemeral by any chance.  Elie Saab Rose Couture lasts about 5 hours on me before fading gently, though a trace of it lingers on well through the night.

There is a major launch event happening in Singapore Metro Paragon from now until 4 February – head on over to experience the new Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture for yourself, and check the various promotions.  There are lots of GWPs on offer, and you can even create your own rose bouquet to bring home!  Let me know what you think of this latest fragrance to hit town!
