Look Polished in 3 minutes with these Picks from the Dior Tie Dye Collection!

May 19, 2015

I’ve been relishing a change in pace (makeup-wise) lately. Between spending an extra few minutes in bed cuddling my little huggle-monster (aka 2.5 yr old son) and endless scrolling of Instagram feed (please join in my obsession here and have fun in my ongoing giveaways!), getting out the door in the mornings is getting increasingly challenging. And to save those precious few minutes, I’m favoring these idiot-proof items from the latest Dior Tie Dye Summer 2015 Collection!

Dior Tie Dye Summer 2015 Collection picks

I must confess, when I first eyed the Dior Tie Dye Collection, there was just 1 item that really made me feel like I had to have, and that was the Diorskin Nude Tan Blush in Coral Sunset [reviewed here]. Since then, I have fallen so hard for the formula that I found myself wandering back to the Dior counters to eye Pink Sunrise and everything else!  For today’s simple 3-minute day look, I will focus on 3 easy picks from this collection to get you out the door in a jiffy, and I promise you will look equally pretty whether you are hitting the beach, going shopping or putting in some hours at the office!

Diorshow Kohl Pearly Platinum

The Diorshow Kohl formula is one of the smoothest, softest that I’ve tried, and I love that they come in a twist-up pen that does not require sharpening. There are 2 limited edition shades in the collection, both designed to perfectly complement the 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes this season. The one I have here is Pearly Platine, which is a shimmering metallic taupe that brightens my eye and gives it a dimensional look without trying too hard.

True to the classic kohl formula, Pearly Platine is ultra creamy and blends out like a dream. The tip is just slightly oversized, and is designed to be used both as a liner along the lash lines, and may be applied all over the lid and blended out for allover color. The way I would use it is to hold it with the tip perpendicular to line, and flat against my face and sweep the angled sides across my lid for all over color.

For the eye look above, I first lined my upper lash line with a black kohl and fully smudged it out. Then I swiped Pearly Platine across a couple of times to about mid-lid, and then blended everything out, up to my crease with a fluffy brush. I also lined my bottom lash line with Pearly Platine. To give my eyes a bit of definition, I went over the upper lash line with a black pencil and 2 coats of mascara. If you want, and have an extra minute to spare, you could always blend in a matte brown in the crease or outer-v, or pat on another eyeshadow shade to amp up the look.

Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye Blush Harmony Pink Sunrise

Nothing brightens up the complexion the way a pop of pink on the cheeks do! And this season’s Diorskin Nude Tan palette in Pink Sunrise is an incredibly beautiful flush. As I had noted in my review of Coral Sunset [here], these Nude Tan Tie Dye Blush Harmony do not fare well when swatched. The only way to tell is to wear them on the cheeks, and Pink Sunrise did not disappoint! I know there were some reviewers who thought it is slightly on the sheer side, but I did not find that to be the case at all. In fact, a single swirl of my Wayne Goss 13 brush [review coming soon!] picked up so much powder I had to tap it off! Compared to last year’s Shimmer Illuminating Powder in Rose [reviewed here], this is much more pigmented and shows up easily on my NC20 skin tone to give a brightening perk to my face.  It is also not as cool-toned as many thought, especially when stacked against My Lady Blush in 006 [reviewed here], although it is clearly not as dark as My Lady 002 [reviewed here].

And to pull the look altogether, here’s something lovely for the lips!

Dior Addict Coral Trip

For this Tie Dye collection, Dior has released 6 two-toned lipsticks in the super creamy and lip-loving Dior Addict formula. These feature the emblematic Dior logo in a contrasting shade in the center of the tube, that extends all the way through so the design remains until the very end. Dior has intended for the 2 shades to integrate as you swipe the lipstick over your lips to create a subtle tie dye effect on the lips. This is different from the very popular Korean trend of ombre lips, and in fact, I find it impossible to create any sort of ombre effect at all. In any case, the color is somewhat sheer, and requires multiple swipes to build up opacity on my lips, but once I do, it has a very nice glossy translucency to the color that I love! The one that I have here – Coral Trip – is a medium cool-toned coral that pulls slightly pink on me (as most coral lipsticks tend to do!). But for that very reason, it perfectly goes with the 2 pieces that I’m showing you today! I should also note here that the formula makes my lips feel so good and the color is so perfect for the office, that I want to live on this every single day!

And here is the final look!

To be honest, I often find it impossible to get any look done under 30 minutes (yes I’m THAT slow!), but of course that’s including my 100-step skincare (kidding! maybe not…), base makeup, the frills – highlight, contour, and HAIR! So I sometimes forget what are the essentials. And if you simply streamline things, life can be simpler! With these 3 items from Dior’s Tie Dye Collection, you can be sure to look polished all day, and have more time for the important things (like cuddles).

This post featured products that were kindly sent to me by Dior Singapore for my consideration.  Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.

  1. great look! I was swatching these at the counter the other day and i just couldn’t decide if i wanted to get the blush, but the lipsticks did seem nice!

What a great collection! Love your picks for this look 🙂

  3. Hi Linda,
gorgeous as always! I am loving the pink blush too but I have read reviews saying it was not possible to get any product from the pan. Is it a quality issue? Anyway mine doesn’t have any, your seems fine too. That liner has such a gorgeous shade!

I don’t think it’s a quality issue… i think just different expectations. Also, I suspect many just swatched with a finger at the store, and wrote their reviews without actually applying it with a brush on their faces. These blushes really don’t swatch well with fingers.

I got the lipstick in Cosmic Pink and really love it. I think that I want Coral Trip too now having seen it on you x

  5. Hey Linda, what a pretty look! Definitely very simple but polished and elegant 🙂 One question: how do these kohls last on you? I haven’t tried them, but I am definitely curious!

  6. beauty bloss says:

You look stunning! The kohl pencil looks especially interesting, I don’t own a kohl in any colour like that xx
