The One Essential Defense Every City Gal Should Have…Dior

April 26, 2015

Now before you start pulling out your best martial arts self defense move, I’m really referring to defending our skin against city pollution.  We all know that cities emit lots of unhealthy pollution, but do you know that these have the ability to age the skin?  Short of calling it quits and escaping to the rural countryside, here is something that you might want to try – Dior One Essential City Defense!

Dior One Essential City Defense

These days, it is generally accepted that prolonged sun exposure has the potential to cause wrinkles, sagging and other signs of pre-mature aging.  And most people (hopefully you too!) have started to incorporate sun protection in their daily skincare routine, and limit their hours under direct sunlight.  However, there is very little we can do to limit our exposure to environmental pollution.  Dirt and dust can clog pores, cause acne and give skin a dull, gray appearance.  Free radicals can deplete oxygen in skin cells and decrease collagen production, which leads to wrinkles, fine lines and rough, dry patches.  There are things we can do to combat these – thoroughly cleansing skin every evening to remove physical grime, consuming more antioxidants to neutralize free radicals, etc.  Dior takes things 1 step further with its latest Dior One Essential City Defense and blocks off sun and pollutants from actually coming into contact with the skin!

Dior One Essential City Defense forms an invisible protective shield on the skin’s surface that has triple anti-pollution action – anti-adhesion, anti-penetration, anti-oxidisation.  Moringa seed extract has water-repellent properties, limiting the ability of pollutive micro-particles from settling on the skin, thereby protecting the cutaneous barrier.  Red Hibiscus extract obtained from the exclusive Dior Gardens in Burkina Faso stimulates Lon Protease activity in the mitochondria, boosting cellular respiration and stimulating natural skin de-tox, preventing pollutants from penetrating the skin.

Dior One Essential City Defense ingredients

Equipped with the highest possible SPF50 PA++++, Dior One Essential City Defense provides a high level of all-day protection from UVA and UVB rays.  This also helps the skin maintain its natural ability to eliminate impurities and resist daily aggressors.  All these goodness are packed in a handy pocket-sized bottle with a lovely light fluid texture.  There is a shaker inside the bottle, and a quick shake before use ensures the product is optimally mixed.  The light fluid is easy to blend all over the face and neck, and dries down within seconds leaving no trace on the skin.

With something like preventive care, it is really difficult to decipher any actual beneficial results to the skin.  Theoretically, with long term use, skin will be healthier and more resilient to environmental aggressors.  For the past month that I’ve been using this, I’ve also been trying some new skincare and makeup, and my skin has been up and down so I can’t really be sure.  Regardless, I have really been loving this Dior One Essential City Defense as a lightweight, daily sunscreen.  It is a joy to use, and any anti-pollution action serves as nice bonus for the long run.

Completely agree with your review! Been using this everyday since I got it, and def like it more than the lastest one from Lancome (which is kinda sad for Lancome since they’re the first ones to bring out the PA++++ sunscreens in TW). The Dior is still slighlty richer than my fave sunscreen from Sofina, but I think for AC weather, the Dior will be lovely!

Oh yes Sofina is much more affordable too right? I wished that brand is easier to get hold of in Singapore… although I didn’t really like their much raved about primer… it gave me a very FLAT look.

I need my sunscreen – every single day and maybe a few times a day. I need to check this out. The serum and mask work very well on me, so maybe this will too 🙂

  3. Oh I am actually intrigued 🙂 So many companies nowadays are making anti-pollution sunscreens. You are right about not being able to really see what they do, but it definitely has that feel-good factor!
