Crabtree & Evelyn launched its Damask Rose Everyday Skincare Collection late last year [reviewed here] and there was something which I thought was conspicuously missing at that time… and has now finally arrived – the Damask Rose Daily Cleansing Foam! I also got to try out the other makeup remover from the range – Damask Rose Comforting Cleansing Balm, and have been enjoying using the duo together for my evening double cleansing routine. Today, I would like to introduce both of them to you.
Crabtree Evelyn Damask Rose Comforting Cleansing Balm [SGD30 for 90gm] is a luxurious cleanser that gently lifts away makeup and other grime from the skin. It is a wonderfully-scented balm filled with the fragrance of Damask Rose, and is a real treat to the senses. The natural plant-based oils in the balm soothes and softens skin whilst cleansing it.
Although the surface of the balm looked and felt quite hard to the touch, once you get beneath the surface layer, the balm itself is actually soft and fluffy. Gently warm it up between the palms, and it instantly melts into a creamy emulsion that can be massaged onto dry skin easily. The balm comes with its own accompanying white linen cloth. Simply wet it in warm water and wipe away the balm from the skin.
The Crabtree Evelyn Damask Rose Comforting Cleansing Balm works well to remove my day’s makeup, although I personally wouldn’t use it on the eyes. And priced so affordably at SGD30, I find it hard to pick faults. However, I do wish the linen cloth was softer and not so scratchy, but I can easily find a replacement.
Crabtree Evelyn Damask Rose Daily Cleansing Foam [SGD28 for 100ml] is the latest addition to the family, and it is a foaming cleanser designed for daily use. It comes in a simple squeeze tube and works up a nice lather easily when mixed with water. I like using it after the Cleansing Balm as it completely removes any remaining traces of the balm from my skin, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed.
In addition to Damask Rose Flower Water, it also contains Hollyhock, Rose of Jericho and Glycerine to moisturise the skin. There are also Olive Oil Esters which help to condition the skin further. I found that you really need very little of this Daily Cleansing Foam, as using too much leaves me skin feeling just a little too squeaky clean.
Overall, both the Comforting Cleansing Balm and Daily Cleansing Foam are lovely products and priced easy on the pocket. If you are a fan of the scent of French Damask Roses, be sure to check these out!
This post features products that were kindly sent to me for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
Oh, I might have to check cleansing foam. I don’t know if we have the brand here but I remember seeing it somewhere. I am looking for a gentle foam cleanser, Glycerin is great but has Lauric Acid, do you think it is suitable for dry skin?
PS: I believe squeaky cleanness shows that the pH is above 7 (basic).
I think you’d find it in Frankfurt & Cologne…. I remember seeing the store there. That said, I’m not sure if the range is available in Europe or only in Asia. I’m not sure if it is suitable for dry skin as it does feel quite squeaky on me… lol.
Beautiful collection. I can smell the luxury 😉
Lol…. yes imagine that beautiful scent!!
OOO that cleansing balm looks great! You definitely piqued my interest here!
