I was very excited to see Crabtree & Evelyn launching a brand new skincare collection, as it has been many years since their last. Crabtree & Evelyn is a lovely brand that has for too long been associated with hand creams and bath items, so it is incredibly refreshing to see the company reach out of its comfort zone and bring us something new. And its Damask Rose skincare collection is the culmination of all the best of Crabtree & Evelyn…
The new Crabtree & Evelyn Damask Rose Skincare Collection contains 10 thoughtfully curated items to meet everyone’s everyday skincare needs. From cleansing to conditioning and moisturizing, and even sun protection and weekly pampering, the range has it all. The collection is infused with the French damask rose, which is known for its hydrating properties, something which everybody needs on a most basic level. And along with it, the luxurious rose scent tantalizes… take a whiff and you cannot help but simply relax and smile!
I was very blessed to have been able to sample 4 pieces of the collection, specially selected to suit my skin type, and would love to share my thoughts on them with you.
Let’s start with my favorite shall we? Crabtree & Evelyn’s Damask Rose Softening Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover (SGD28 for 100ml) is the world’s best smelling makeup remover everrrr! Fans of Diptyque will understand when I say this smells like liquid Rosamundi. And if you hadn’t sniffed Rosamundi, don’t worry about getting your hands on that, get this instead! It is one of 2 makeup removers in the Damask Rose collection, and is recommended for normal to oily skin types.
The oil itself is relatively light, and it turns upon contact with water into a sort of emulsion that lifts away dirt and impurities from the skin. For light makeup, this should be sufficient in itself, however I found that I needed to follow up with a foam cleanser to be completely rid of all my makeup. It rinses off easily without leaving my skin feeling heavy or oily.
For my skin type and personal preference, I was recommended the Crabtree & Evelyn Damask Rose Freshening Cleansing Lotion (SGD28 for 100ml). This is one of 3 lotions and is meant to dissolve any remaining impurities and hydrate the skin at the same time, and is meant for normal skin types. There is also a Damask Rose Relaxing Micellar Water for oilier skin, and gel-type Damask Rose Purifying Toning Lotion for drier skin.
To be completely honest, I’m not altogether sure this did very much for my skin in terms of hydration (but then again, which toner / lotion really does??). But i’m still in love with it for its gentleness on my skin, that luxurious scent that sends me swooning, and it really does not sting my sensitive skin in the slightest.
There are 2 moisturizers in this range for day and night separately, and a separate sun protecting lotion (SPF45+++) which doubles up as a light moisturizer for day. All 3 had lovely textures, even the night moisturizer was silky and not overly rich. I went with the Crabtree & Evelyn Damask Rose Hydrating Day Lotion (SGD50 for 50ml) because it claims to keep skin hydrated up to 36 hours.
I love the cute little bottle it comes in with a handy pump dispenser. And 1 pump was sufficient to cover my entire face and neck. The moisturizer itself was smooth and relatively lightweight, and of course it too smelled absolutely heavenly. I really enjoyed this moisturizer, however, it did not quite keep my skin hydrated throughout my day as I spend most of my time in air conditioned interiors and have been dealing with more than anybody’s fair share of work stress lately (crappy colleagues begone!).
Lastly, I was able to try the Crabtree & Evelyn Damask Rose Soothing Moisture Mask (5 sheets for SGD33). This promises to intensely moisturize, nourish and brighten the complexion within 10 minutes. And it doesn’t disappoint! It is a sheet mask but it is sealed at the bottom to form a “pocket” in which you are supposed to place your chin, so that the entire mask is able to hug the curves of the face as tightly as possible. It fit my face well, and left my skin looking plumped and well hydrated!

Overall, Crabtree & Evelyn’s new Damask Rose Skincare Collection did brilliantly for a first collection! There is something for everybody’s basic skincare needs, and it seems a very well thought-out range. I am in love with the smell of those damask roses, and that alone is worth trying, in my opinion. The pricing is also very accessible, which is always appreciated!
The products were provided for my consideration. All opinions expressed are my own honest, unbiased views.
Oh these look wonderful! Like the simple clean packaging. I’m still very wary of C&B after my nightmare with one of their exfoliating hand washes from a while back, perhaps these will revert me back. Am most intrigued with trying the micellar.
Oh dear… then perhaps you can ask for a sample first? The micellar is not typical of most micellar cleansers which you wipe off and it removes all your makeup… this is more of a toner i think. They only recommend it for oily skin.
You said Damask rose? *meerkat mode*
I’ve got to see if I can find these around here!
LOL!! Yes damask rose!
