Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution

May 24, 2015

I must be the last person living under a rock who until recently had never tried nor owned a Clarisonic.  Whilst I prefer physical exfoliation over chemical (as my skin tends to react quite violently to harsh chemicals), I’ve always believed that once or twice weekly scrubs were more than enough.  The truth is, even though good scrubs can help greatly in getting rid of dead skin cells and trapped dirt, the micro-beads present in physical scrubs can indeed cause damage to the skin if taken too over-zealously.  On the other hand, pollutants trapped in the skin may cause premature aging, and should ideally be removed on a daily basis.  Hence, a good cleansing device, like the Clarisonic, which are designed with our safety in mind, can help our skin look even better and delay aging.  And now, Clarisonic has introduced its first ever skincare – the Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution – to complement its handheld device for even more beautiful skin!

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution

The Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution is a 3-piece skincare routine that is designed to work hand-in-hand with the Clarisonic handheld cleansing device.  There is even a special Radiance Brush Head uniquely engineered with softer, denser, extra fine bristles to deliver a comfortable yet effective cleansing experience.  The fusion of all these elements work to slow down the synthesis of excess melanin in skin, combat future dark spot formation, and exfoliate existing pigment at the skin’s surface… leaving clearer, brighter, and more radiant skin.

The skincare products currently consists of a Skin Illuminating Cleanser, Skin Renewing Essence Boost, and Brightening Activator Serum.

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Illuminating Cleanser

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Illuminating Cleanser [SGD35 for 100ml] is a milky fluid facial cleanser that has a rich, slightly thicker texture than most other foaming cleanser.  Used on its own, it does not foam up much even when mixed with water and massaged on the skin.  However, I found it worked marvelously with the brush-head and device as it provided extra lubrication and felt somewhat protective on my skin as the device went to work, cleansing and exfoliating my skin at high speed.  The cleanser rinses off easily with water without leaving any greasy or oily film, and it left my skin feeling perfectly comfortable without stripping it of its natural moisture.  Even when I used it on its own without the device, it worked well and left my skin looking brighter.

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Renewing Essence Boost

The Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Renewing Essence Boost [SGD55 for 236ml] follows immediately after cleansing, and it is packed with beneficial ingredients such as Niacinamide which improves skin’s elasticity, enhances its barrier function, helps erase discolorations, and revives skin’s healthy tone and texture.  Sodium Hyaluronate plumps up the skin from within, and lactic acid works to erase wrinkles and fine lines.  Licorice extract contains anti-inflammatory benefits, and disrupts the production of melanin; and peppermint extract has anti-microbial benefits.  It is a clear, thickened fluid that has an almost gel-like texture, and works best poured out on the palm and patting onto the face.  I’ve found it pleasantly hydrating and soothing, the perfect accompaniment to the cleansing routine.

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Activator Serum

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Activator Serum [SGD75 for 29ml] is the last step of this routine, and it is formulated to provide intense hydration whilst sealing in the depigmentation benefits of the entire routine.  The serum is formulated with Ellagic Acid and Phenylethyl Resorcinol, a powerful anti-oxidant duo that also lightens pigmentation, improves skin elasticity and prevents wrinkles from forming.  It is a milky fluid that feels quite emollient and moisturizing on my skin although it absorbs rapidly.

It is somewhat odd to have the collection end right here, and I would recommend you complete your skincare routine with your choice of moisturizer.  Of course, I know many girls living in the hot humid climate of Singapore may feel the serum on its own is sufficient, but I have always been a strong advocate for moisturizers.  In any case, I have been using this daily over the past month together with this moisturizer, and my skin has been much brighter, more luminous and even in tone!  I also wanted to briefly comment on the Radiance Brush Head [SGD40 each]… when I first received it, I thought it felt rather coarse to the touch.  However, once I attached it to a Clarisonic Aria and turned it on the 1st (delicate) setting, it was pleasantly soft and gentle!  I’ve actually really enjoyed using it in the mornings, and the massaging motion helps me wake up.

The Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution retails for SGD355 [inclusive of the Clarisonic Aria] and it is also available separately at the prices indicated above.  Interestingly, I noticed that in the US and Europe, the set consists of a peel wash instead of Essence.  For its inaugural skincare release, I think Clarisonic has done excellently with products that work really well with the Clarisonic device and equally on their own.  They’re also affordably priced, and I would recommend all Clarisonic fans and newbies alike to check this out!

This post featured products that were kindly sent to me by Clarisonic Singapore for my consideration.  Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.

I have literally just sold my clarisonic on eBay today. It had been sitting unused in a drawer for probably 12 months. I prefer taking my cleansers off with flannels and using chemical exfoliants and the occasional manual exfoliant. The clarisonic was a bit irritating on my skin. Glad it works for you!

Oh i’m glad you managed to cash out! If it’s just sitting around unused, better to just declutter. I use a flannel wash cloth with my cream / balm cleansers too, and i really enjoy that, except i always feel the cloths get really dirty and i probably dont do that great a job washing them after each use!

Yes, I understand the cloth situation. Dirty Grey? I have found the best way to wash them is to spray each one liberally with stain remover and chuck the washing machine on a hot cycle with a 30 min soak. They come up (almost) brand new xx

I bought my Clarisonic Plus about 3 years ago? Initially, I used it day and night, and I saw changes in 2 weeks. Brighter skin immediately! I think it was due to the exfoliation. Now, I use it 7 days a month. 1 week on, 3 weeks off. I can’t use it too often now because skin doesn’t need that much exfoliation. I pair it with my cleanser of the day – but these skincare look interesting as well! A radiance booster is always needed 🙂

Hi Lily, I’m still too scaredy to use the Clarisonic Day & Night, every single day. For the past month, I have been using it only in the mornings, 2-3 times a week. So mainly, it is the skincare that made the difference for me, I think!
