Where has the week gone?? Ever since I started my job, I feel like I’m constantly on the go, and I never get a chance to get anything done properly… my to do list is ever-growing, and I’m flying off to Italy next weekend!! But before that, I’ve got a couple of deadlines to meet, and my son’s 3rd birthday party to plan… I hope I get some time to arrange some interesting content for you while I’m away, so definitely stay tuned for that! In the meantime, I’d like to show you some new Chanel Rouge Double Intensite that are being launched with the Holiday 2015 Rouge Noir Absolument Collection!
This year’s holiday collection from Chanel seems to be going around with different names, and I’ve seen in the US the lip colors are being released as a separate “Lip Collection” and there are different shade offerings across different markets. There are a couple of Rouge Allure and Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks, and Levres Scintillanates from the main collection. Alongside those, Chanel will be releasing 2 new shades of the Rouge Double Intensite, and repromoting 2 others for the occasion. Unfortunately availability of the shades vary, and I can only report on the 4 shades that we will be seeing here in Asia.
Chanel Rouge Double Intensite is not a new product in the market, but embarrassingly this is my first time trying them out. These sleek tubes contain 2 different products on each end, featuring a long-lasting liquid lip colour on the left, and a clear shiny gloss top coat on the right. The liquid lip colour comes with a sponge doe-foot applicator, whilst the gloss is accompanied by a rounded brush. Both applicators perform their jobs perfectly, picking up the right amount of product to coat my lips entirely, and hugging the edges and curvatures of my lips precisely.
The 4 shades that I have here are (from left to right) – Pink Twist (repromote), Light Rose (repromote), Plum Desire (new), and Shocking Pink (new).
And this is how they look on my lips (please pardon my slightly dry lips!). All shown here is 1 coat of the lip color (no re-dipping) without the clear glossy top coat.
As you can see, the finishes vary between the shades.
Here are some full makeup looks to give you an idea of how these Rouge Double Intensite look in context:
Full makeup look featuring Chanel Rouge Double Intensite in Plum Desire
Full makeup look featuring Chanel Rouge Double Intensite in Light Rose with Clear Gloss
Full makeup look featuring Chanel Rouge Double Intensite in Pink Twist. Eyes about to sneeze I think, most definitely not smizing!
Full makeup look featuring Chanel Rouge Double Intensite in Shocking Pink. Va-va-voom!
The most impressive thing about these Chanel Rouge Double Intensite is their wear time… they take about a minute (maybe less) to dry, and once they set, they are completely immoveable! I can chomp down a burger, plaster my lips all over my coffee mug, plant wet kisses all over my little boy’s chubby cheeks all day long, and the lip colour would not budge! So if you want to party without a care in the world, hang around the mistletoe hoping to catch some smooches, and throw yourself at someone when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, this is the lip formula to wear!!
The clear glossy top coat is not as enduring, and to be honest, it does not make my lips feel more or less hydrated, but what is magical about it is it does not budge the lip colour at all! I’m sure you’re all curious about the comfort level of these Rouge Double Intensite, and to be honest these are not the most moisturising liquid lip colours I’ve tried, but neither are they the most drying. Contrast that with the longest and most impressive wear time, I think these are clear winners for important occasions! You do need a good waterproof makeup remover to get these off at the end of the day though, so keep that in mind.
Have you tried any Chanel Rouge Double Intensite before? Which pieces are you eyeing from their holiday offerings?
This post featured products that were kindly provided for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
i don’t know how i missed this post! I used to love the rouge double intensite range but never was too interested in any of the shades. Maybe i’ll try a few and see if any catch my eye 🙂
Congrats on the new job!
I hope you had fun in Italy, and your son’s birthday, of course! How did that turn out?
I’ve never tried these lipglosses either. Not a big fan of glosses, in general, but I’ll have to check them out, after reading your review and looking at your pics, of course! Pink twist looks amazing on you!
Thanks Sil!! I definitely had fun in Italy… but i missed my boy sooo much! It was his first big birthday do, and I think he was a bit overwhelmed. But overall, everything turned out smoothly, thank you so much for asking! :**
These are AMAZING in their longevity!! I wouldn’t wear anything anymore for dinner parties from now on!
I really love the Fuschia on you! I’m not really into mattes, but the gloss over top seems like a handy thing to have.

I understand how mattes are not always flattering, and i do think some of these shades are more forgiving than others. The gloss helps, though I think a good lip balm beforehand would be even better!
Don’t be embarrassed for not trying, Linda. I haven’t either. Hahaha! Plum Desire is also my favourite, and while I love darker lip shades, I don’t like to wear it to dinner events because of the hassle of reapplying. I might just have to look at this, since it lasts through everything! I don’t mind sacrificing some dry lips for budge free vampy lip!!!
Now, to actually get my butt to KL or Penang to a Chanel counter. Sigh…
Hi Lily, I finally got to chat with one of the BAs, and it turns out Singapore never stocked these Rouge Double Intensite to begin with! Hahahaa! And these 4 shades are an initial trial. I am totally with you on wearing darker lips for dinners, and trust me, you need at least 1 of these! No staining of cutleries or napkins, and no touch ups needed!
They look beautiful. We don’t get this formula in the UK.
Hi Mandy, I think this formula was for the US market only originally…. these 4 shades are just now being released in Singapore, and I hope they will bring more to more markets soon!
Plum Desire looks gorgeous!! I am definitely going to splurge on some Chanel this Christmas! 🙂
Yes it’s a stunner indeed! No better time to splurge on Chanel!
