Chanel Poudre à Lèvres Lip Balm & Powder Duo for Spring 2018

December 27, 2017

This coming Spring 2018 is an exciting time for Chanel lovers, as there is not “only” an exceptional 9-shade eyeshadow palette to hoard [see here], but there is also a brand new crew of tinted lip powder and balm duos to play with.  Lots of brands experimented with lip pigments throughout 2017, but taking time to perfect the formula played off for Chanel’s Poudre à Lèvres!

Chanel Poudre a Levres from Neapolis Collection

Chanel Poudre à Lèvres Lip Balm and Powder Duo feature a lip powder pigment and a light transparent balm on a palette format.  There are 2 applicators included in the palette, a synthetic flat brush for the lip balm, and a sponge-tipped applicator for buffing in the pigment.  Lucia Pica had taken inspiration from the tempera technique of Pompeiian frescoes, and created a product that may be mixed by hand and applied in layers for a fresh kissable effect.

There are 3 limited edition shades, each one as covetable as the next.  The lip pigments are all matte, and the accompanying balm helps to smoothen lip lines and gives a soft blurred finish.  I don’t find the balm particularly hydrating nor does it create too much slip, though the pigment itself does not feel drying at all and has amazing longevity on my lips!

The way I like to wear these is to first apply a thin layer of the balm all over my lips, then I dab the pigments into the center of my lips and smudge outwards.  I don’t use a liner and leave the lips lines imprecise for that rubbed in, lived in look that is trending right now.  To refresh after a heavy meal, I just dab on a bit more of the pigment or switch out to another lipstick in the center and smack my lips together for an ombre effect!

The first look that you’d already seen yesterday featured Chanel Poudre a Levres Rosa Tempera.

And this next look features Chanel Poudre a Levres Rosso Parthenope on the lips.  I will unveil the rest of the items worn here in a subsequent post soon… stay tuned!

I am surprised by just how much I’ve taken to these Chanel Poudre à Lèvres!  They are incredibly comfortable to wear, and last all day and do not leave messy lip stains on my glasses.  These are limited edition, and I highly recommend you grab them while they are available!

This post featured products that were generously provided for my consideration.  Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.

I desperately wanted to like the lip balm/powder duo but I’ve decided to return mine (Rosa Tempura). It is just too unforgiving on parched lips and the pigment binds unevenly, leaving a patchy look. I tried different balms, application techniques, brushes, even applied the pigment over a nude lipstick, to no avail. I am LOVING the cream eyeshadow, especially when paired with the green eyeliner. The palette and blush are upcoming purchases.

Sorry to hear the lip powders didn’t work for you, Tracey. I don’t wear it fully opaque, but more like an ombre stain. I first apply a balm all over, let it absorb, then I apply the balm side of the palette before applying the lip pigment. The cream shadow is AMAZING, soooo super pretty! Let me know what you think of the palette when you get it!

I like the berry one and I believe I may be spying the eyeliner in the second photo. Currently sitting in my cart.

Which eyeliner are you looking at? The green or black? You should get the ombre premiere creme too, i think you’ll really enjoy that color!

I was looking at the black, thinking it was more of a metallic blue, but am probably going to pass. The ombre is really more my color. Although I think I have an Armani skin tint as well as a Natasha Denona in that range. It’s a summer color for me.

Oh! Interesting! This one is something I’d like to try myself.
