The second of the Chanel Les Rouges Culte that I picked up (for the 1st, please see here) is the Chanel Le Vernis Rouge N°19. Just as with Laque Rouge, Rouge N°19 is a re-issue of an old classic, this time from 1987.
Chanel Le Vernis Rouge N°19 is described as a blue-red (and hence relaunched as part of the Le Culte Rouge collection), but is for all intents and purposes fuchsia. Adding to the pink flavor is this beautiful hidden micro-shimmer that is the hallmark of Chanel Le Vernis.
You can see a hint of the fuchsia micro-shimmer peeking out where the light hits it, but for most times, it is largely invisible. What does translate very well, is a creamy deep reddened pink that is incredibly beautiful and ladylike.
I had a little bit of trouble with this formula, it seemed to apply not as smoothly as Laque Rouge, but it was self levelling and dried to a lovely smooth finish without any streaks. And more importantly, Chanel Le Vernis Rouge N°19 is the most long-lasting of all the Chanel Le Vernis that I’ve ever tried!! I’ve grown accustomed to having Chanel nail polishes wear off at the edges within a day or two, and chipping off by the 3rd day or sooner. However, this particular shade / bottle seemed to go a full 3 days with just minor wearing off at the edges, and when I go over the edges with the brush, the polish self equalizes and looks perfect again! I am definitely loving this Rouge N°19 lots!
