After nearly a century of dressing women in tweed, Chanel has taken the threads of the fabric and woven a new collection of eyeshadow quads for the eyes. There are 8 new Les 4 Ombres that have been released (and will be hitting most stores this summer) and will replace many of the existing ones. Finally, after years of underwhelming us with dry and sheer eyeshadows, Chanel is finally creating some creamy and pigmented shadows that are runway worthy!
As these have yet to arrive in Singapore, a sweet friend sent me Tissé Vénitien all the way from Germany!
During an initiatory journey through the canals of Venice, Gabrielle Chanel drew inspiration from the enchanting colour combinations she saw in the City of the Doges. A hypnotic partition composed around green. From a delicate silver pink, a bluish green and an intense green to a platinum khaki, the palette floods your eyes with luminosity rivaled only by water itself.
Chanel Les 4 Ombres Tissé Vénitien boasts a beautiful forest green paired with a cool pale pink. The quad is made more interesting by the addition of a platinum khaki with a metallic finish. And of course, there is a deep charcoal that carries hints of green in it to anchor the palette.
The new formula is really smooth and creamy, and carries good color intensity as shown in the swatches above – all single swipes. All of the shades are a breeze to blend, and wear well without creasing or falling out.
For an natural everyday look, I swept the pale pink all over my lid, followed by the green in the outer corner. Thereafter, I took a bit of the platinum and placed it where my crease is, blending towards the outer corner. Finally, I lined my lower lash line with a mixture of the charcoal and green shades, finishing with just a dab of platinum on my inner corner.
I also wanted to see how the shades layer together for a smokey look, so I started by applying the charcoal shade along my upper lash line, then I blended upwards with the green. To put a bit of dimension back, I added a dab of platinum in the center, and finished with a light sweep of pink above the green to blend out. I used black liquid liner on my upper lash line as that works better for me, but I lined the lower lash line with the charcoal shade using a slightly damp brush to get better intensity.
Chanel has picture tutorials for 4 different looks here, 2 of which I have recreated here albeit with slight twists to accommodate my eye shape.
The new Les 4 Ombres will be hitting our Chanel Beauty boutiques at MBS and Ion on 30 May, and rolled out to all other departmental-store counters a week after. They will be priced at SGD85 and contain 2gm of product.
Will you be checking these out?

I swatches this colour last week when I was in my lunch break ( as usual) and the pigment and texture amazed me but AUD97 dollars for a pan is an ouch… I have to think about it.
Omg that’s too exp!! It’s sgd90 here which is the same as the previous palettes
this palette is so lovely! I recently got it as a treat to myself, for my birthday, because I loved the colors so much. all those lovely greens!
there were a couple of other palettes that i also liked. don’t remember which ones, but I remember really liking one with purples.
even so, I got my eye set on one of the palettes from Guerlain next time 😉
What a lovely birthday treat! This is my favorite Chanel palette ever (which is not saying too much since I’m not a very big fan in the past)… I heard the quality varies between palettes, so do test before buying. Also, do check out the new YSL couture palettes! 😉
Yes, the new YSL palettes look lovely on the photos! I don’t know when we’ll get those here, so I can see them and swatch them. (I’m still a little bitter because we didn’t get the blush from the spring collection >.<)
It’s so pretty! Can’t wait till tomorrow to see the whole collection! Will you be getting another one in Singapore?
Love your blog!
i can’t decide which is the next one i want… gotta swatch them in person to decide. Thanks for your love!
What a gorgeous palette with my favourite colors! Thanks for sharing 🙂
