Chanel Reflets d’Ete Le Vernis 615 Sweet Lilac

June 16, 2014

For Summer 2014, Chanel brings us 5 Les Vernis – 1 Eastern Light is a re-release from Spring 2013, the others are new and limited edition with the exception of Tutti Fruiti.  I will be reviewing these over the coming weeks, starting with Sweet Lilac (615).

Chanel Le Vernis 615 Sweet Lilac swatch

I was a little apprehensive when I first laid eyes on Sweet Lilac… it looked a little too pale, too purple… I was worried it would make my nails look like the walking dead, or frozen.  But as it turns out, Sweet Lilac had some sweetie pie pink in it!  Enough to keep it looking youthful yet classy.  Bon chic, bon genre!

Personally, I am not a  huge fan of Chanel polishes… I tend to find them more challenging to work (brush design plays a big part) and the formula tend to chip within a day or two on me.  So imagine my surprise when Sweet Lilac lasted all of 5 days on me with just very minor wearing at the edges!!  It also was nicely opaque in 2 coats, and was completely smooth and streak free!

Chanel Le Vernis Sweet Lilac is one of those timeless shades that looks good in all seasons, and suit everybody young and old alike.  It is limited edition though, so I suggest getting hold of this while you can!

xoxo

    Hi Linda,

The color looks so so good on you! I regret not buying it:(

What a pretty color! I’m not fond of lilac either, so when I read the name of that polish I had a different color in mind. But looking at your pictures, it’s actually very pretty! That touch of pink it has takes the color to a different level.
I’ve never tried a polish from Chanel (they are sooo expensive here (around US$40), it’s crazy!), that I just can’t justify to myself paying so much for nail polish. And I fear that they’d chip just as fast as every other nail polish that I’ve tried (weirdly enough, the more expensive the polish, the faster they chip on my nails).
I’ll just have to live vicariously through pictures, lol

OMG USD40 for a polish?? That’s insane!!!! Honestly, Chanel polishes have been hit or miss with me… they tend to chip and wear off almost instantly. Have you tried YSL polishes? They’re quite possibly one of my fav designer polishes.

i know! It’s so insanely expensive! Sadly, some brands are like that here 🙁
I have one polish from YSL, Pop Art, a gorgeous red. But it last the least of all nail polishes I’ve tried 🙁

Oh dear!!! YSL actually lasts very decently on me… 🙁 Well there are always many other great nail brands out there to experiment with!

Yes, maybe I should try a different color from YSL? I have better luck with Dior, but not by much. Still, looking at the pretty bottle makes me a little happy, so that’s something, lol
Or maybe I should try a different top coat, I’ve read that sometimes that helps.

  3. Hi Linda,
this one also lasted longer on me than my other Chanel nail polishes so I suspect they have a slight reformulation going on. Sweet Lilac really looks lovely on your nails, I backed this one up since it is such a nice nude for my skin tone. (lilac being a nude? unbelievable but true lol).

Thanks for confirming my thoughts, Sara. 5 days with just minor wear at the edges is very unusual for me… i tried on Mirabella right after this, and it only lasted me 1 day. And yes!! I thought it was nude-ish too despite being lilac!! xx

  4. Love that color! 🙂
