For Fall 2014, Chanel re-released 3 shades of classic reds from the 1980s, under the Chanel Les Rouges Culte Collection. But the timing of these is interesting, it did not coincide with the launch of their fall collection (see here and here), and it late in the season to coincide with the launch of the new Le Rouge Allure Glosses (more on that soon). I suppose with classics, it really does not matter, and especially reds such as these… Chanel Les Vernis 71 Laque Rouge is particularly timeless and well suited for the oncoming Holiday season!
Chanel Le Vernis 71 Laque Rouge is a beautiful deep red with a cool-blue base. It almost feels like a wine-red, but nowhere as deep and dark as Bordeaux. It is that sort of red that makes you feel grown up, sexy and womanly. I almost gave it a miss as I felt like I’d have many versions of this at home, but it is too beautiful to let up on. Oh yes, Laque Rouge is limited edition.
You would hardly ever hear me praise the formula of Chanel Le Vernis, but this particular bottle almost feels like a brand new creation. It applied smoothly and was completely opaque in 2 coats. There was no streaking, dried well to a shiny finish, and gave a gorgeous creamy color.
This one feels rather Christmas-y doesn’t it?
