Hello dear reader, how have you been all year? It has been an incredibly challenging year, and it looks like the final stretch will be tougher than ever as countries go into a second wave of lock-downs. <PSA> If you have not been wearing masks, then please please do yourself and everyone around you a favour, and get onboard already! If you can’t get hold of some, let me know, am happy to help.
Personally, I have been living with mask-on for the good part of this year, and it has been interesting how I had adapted to it. Initially, I felt like it was a good excuse to not bother with my appearances anymore (so much time saved!). Lipstick felt like a ridiculous triviality… after all, nothing is worse than having smudged lips! But as we slowly reopened dining outlets in Singapore, I realised looking pale as death is just as bad. So if you are also wondering what to wear underneath your mask, let me introduce you to the ultimate budge-proof formula – Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue!
I have to confess this is a post that was long long overdue. The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue has been around for many years, but was not available in Asia until last year. Having tried the US version before, I think Chanel reformulated the Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue. The new formula feels lighter than before, and dries down to a soft velvety matte that floats over lip lines the way the Korean ones do. And if you have a keen eye, the tubes are now angular instead of rounded.
These Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue feature a liquid lipcolor on one end, and a clear high shine gloss on the other. The liquid lipstick lasts ALL DAY, and completely budge-proof, bulletproof. The only thing that will remove it is makeup remover. So you can slick it on in the morning, put on your mask and live your life without a worry. I eat, drink, lick, kiss with it… and my lips still look amazing for that impulse snap.
Here are 5 of my favourite shades:
If you layer the gloss over, do beware the gloss will smudge on your mask. However, the gloss may be a good way to refresh the lipcolor if you suddenly find yourself having to join a video conference in the privacy of your own home. As you may see from the swatches above, the lipcolors have a natural luminosity on their own, which is why I personally hardly ever dip into the gloss.
Chanel has several other liquid lipsticks, including the Rouge Allure Ink Fusion which I enjoy. Regardless, none comes close to the staying power of Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue. So, if you are in need of a new lipstick and have not tried this, do yourself a favour and get 1 (or 10) now!
