Chanel Stylo Ombre et Contour, Dimensions Ultimes de Chanel & La Base Ombres a Paupieres
For the latest Eyes Collection, CHANEL presents us with new makeup products for the eyes. To supplement the brand’s already extensive range of colour point makeup for the eyes, there are 3 new releases that are bound to make their way into our vanities as staples.
The Chanel Stylo Ombre et Contour is a multi-tasking eye kohl that does it all. It has a tapered tip that is easy to line the upper and lower lash lines, and is wide enough to quickly lay down all-over colour. The formula is highly pigmented, yet it glides on easily and is a breeze to blend. However, it dries down and sets in about a minute, and then stays budge-proof all day. The formula is waterproof and requires a proper eye makeup remover to completely remove at the end of the day. There are currently 7 shades available, 3 of which are from the Fall Apotheosis Collection. Only 1 of the seasonal shades is limited edition, all other 6 will be available on a permanent basis. I have swatched all 6 permanent shades here for you, do note the 2 shades marked with * are from the Fall collection.
Most of the shades are matte, with the exception of Electric Brown which blends out to a beautiful all-over colour, and Nude Eclat is suitable as a corner highlighter. On my heavily hooded oily lids though, I experienced some creasing in the folds, which can be fixed with a good primer. The best part is that the Chanel Stylo Ombre et Contour does not smudge on my lower lash line and lasts throughout the day with minimal fading which is quite impressive for a kohl!
The one item that I had been wishing and hoping for year to see from Chanel, finally arrived with this collection in the form of the Chanel La Base Ombres a Paupieres. It comes in a slim frosted glass tube with a doe-footed sponge applicator wand. This is a fresh and lightweight liquid eye makeup primer, with a watery gel-like texture composed of hydrating cornflower water and glycerin. Soft focus powders help to fill in wrinkles and blurs out imperfections. I like how it dries within seconds, allowing me to move onto the actual makeup application quickly, bringing out the true colour intensity of eyeshadows. On my heavily hooded lids though, I found that it does not completely stop my makeup from falling into the lid fold. Regardless, for most other powdered eyeshadows, it works beautifully.
Chanel makes some of my favourite mascaras, and my personal HG until recently is the Inimitable Mascara. That is now dethroned by its latest sister, the Dimensions Ultimes de Chanel. Specially designed for the Asian woman, Dimensions Ultimes de Chanel has a special bristle brush angled at various points and in varying length to grab hold of every single lash, even the tiniest wimpiest ones that I have, and extend them skywards. The formula feels light and elastic, able to coat each and every lash separately without clumping, yet pigmented enough to make my lashes stand out with just a single coat. The defining moment is its impressive ability to curl my lashes and hold them up without need for a separate curler (because who has the time?!). Its smudgeproof formula stays put, even in the crazy hot humid climate that I’m currently subject to, and of course my oily lids. A revolutionary formula allows this Dimensions Ultimes mascara to be easily removed with warm water, no need for a separate makeup remover. Of course, that means no swimming or tearing up at the movies, but so convenient for short trips. In fact everything here is great and handy for travelling, so do pop by a Chanel makeup store before your next vacation!
