I think I must have squealed out loud one evening, when I saw a big black Chanel gift bag waiting for me, tied exactly the way the boutiques do it. It was a curious thing, because their makeup and fragrances usually come in white paper bags, only the fashion boutiques use the black ones. And inside were 2 drawstring dust bags, a larger one that looked just about the size of a handbag (!!), and a smaller mysterious one. I was completely mystified because I really wasn’t expecting to receive a handbag of course, but my surprise was magnified when I pulled out a blanket! It’s no ordinary blanket of course, and it’s more a throw than a real full-sized blanket, but one with the full Chanel logo embroidered on it… that’s pure luxury! From the smaller dust bag, I uncovered the latest Chanel Cruise 2017 Makeup Collection, and then it all makes sense – it’s time to lounge beside sun-drenched pools, and head out to the resorts!
Chanel Cruise 2017 Les Indispensables de Lete Makeup Collection is a tightly curated line of basics with a bit of color fun injected into it. It is designed to complement the latest Les Beiges collection (which is unfortunately only slated to be launched on 15 June in Singapore), and inspires naked sensuality and a freedom of spirit.
Chanel Poudre Belle Mine Ensoleillée is this year’s variation of the cult favourite Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour. It is an ultra fine powder, so smooth it almost feels creamy, and though it does not contain any shimmer, it leaves the skin with a healthy glowy shine. This year’s rendition feels more glowy than previous year’s, so much so that I feel it is better suited as a subtle highlighter and all-over finishing powder, than for contouring and sculpting.
Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof are my favourite liners so I always make sure to stock up on the limited edition variations every season. This Summer, there are 2 deep shades that I love and I believe every one needs to give their makeup game a boost!
Horizon (837) is a deep black with some micro-shimmers that makes it quite different from the permanent offering (Ebene). Terra Rossa (847) is a blackened eggplant with a slightly redder base. Both are incredibly smooth and creamy, and I love using these Stylo Yeux Waterproof as a darkening base for my eye makeup! Simply swipe them on all over the lid, smudge out, and it helps whatever eyeshadow that goes over pop.
Chanel Inimitable Waterproof Mascara is another of my holy grail products that I use on a daily basis. There are 2 colored variations this season to add some subtle color play to your peepers when you just don’t feel like wearing any other makeup at all.
Vert Profond (87) is a forest green that surprisingly shows up after just 2 coats on my dark black lashes. Brun Profond (97) is a dark brown that is a nice alternative for carefree summer lounging where black is too harsh.
Keeping to the minimal makeup look, Chanel has a number of options for the lips, and I have here 2 of the Rouge Coco Stylos. Sepia (207) is a medium-dark red with a strong yellow base, which goes well with our summer tan and a dressy choice for evening wine sipping. Panorama (217) is a light beige that is quite nude on me, and I prefer it over a liner.
Generally speaking, I’m a fan of the Chanel Rouge Coco Stylos, and Panorama has a slick creamy feel that is consistent with the range. However, I found Sepia to have a tad too much slip, and goes on patchy. I do enjoy the color, and recommend applying with a lip brush over a lined lip or lipstick primer to hold the color better in place.
In this first look, I am wearing Terra Rossa on my eyes along with Brun Profond on the lashes. For the lips, I went with Sepia for a bit more drama. For both the looks, I applied the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour in Medium Light on the tops of my cheek bones and temples for a bit of glow.
For the next look, I lined my eyes with Horizon and added Vert Profond to my lashes for a pop of green. Since the eyes are a bit heavier in this look, I picked Panorama to keep things breezier.
This Chanel Les Indispensables de Lete Cruise Collection 2017 is now available in stores everywhere. Have you got your eye on any of them?
This post featured products that were generously provided for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
Both looks are so beautiful! Lovely review and this collection is divine. I will keep my eye out on the bronzer!

Thank you, Naya! I’m really loving the les beiges illuminating bronzing powder!! It’s just so beautiful!
I’m a dissenter. LOL I found the new powder (in light) to have a fine, visible sparkle that never did meld with my skin. It looked a bit frosty and like it was just sitting on the surface even though I used a soft squirrel brush with a very light hand. It did have a beautiful glow, but it looked dry and powdery up close. I was terribly disappointed in it. Since the SA touted it as “melding with the skin to give you a natural radiance,” and it most definitely did not do that, I took it back. I love glowing finishes and do not shy away from products that have visible shimmer so long as they blend with the skin, but this Chanel powder looked garish on me 🙁 Undoubtedly there will be women who love it, but it just didn’t work out for me.
Oh dear, so sorry to hear it, Eileen. My skin eats shimmers for breakfast, lunch & dinner…. and i’m really loving the powder!! Buuuutt…. lots of other stuff to love, it’s better when we have a reason to save some money! ;P
SUPER PRETTY! I was shopping for blush and saw the Chanel Poudre Belle Mine Ensoleillée on line and waiting to see a good review. I think I’m definitely going to pick it up. I just bought their latest blush, OMG, I’m laying in bed and too tired to even look up the name or get up and get it (god forbid) and look at it. But it’s a beautiful one. =)
Ooohhh which blush did you pick up?? I hope you find a nice shade for the powder…. it’s so lovely!
Yes, I’m looking at the liners too. But I am wondering whether the really stay put if they are that soft. Of course I’ve been wondering about them since the launch began and yours are the clearest swatches.
Hi Alison, as Lily says, they are rather soft and I have some problems with them on my lower lash line. I usually smudge my liners out on the top, and i use them with a primer too, so I didn’t notice anything there.
I’m seriously eyeing the liners from this collection! Such great colours! x
They’re easy to wear colors!!
Elegance. It’s very pretty!
Oh wow I thought you had a green eyeshadow!! That mascara looks beautiful on you? Chanel Les beiges is always exciting! Love this thanks for the review darling! 😘

Horizon does look green in the tube and smudges out a bit green! But the full pigmented swatch is clearly quite black. I think the mascara brought the green out of it in the photo.
Sepia goes on nicely on in my lips though. But it does feel quite slippery. I love the liners though. So soft and pigmented! But I think some will have a hard time using it because of the softness.
Do they budge?
They do budge if worn on its own! I have to make sure I powder my lids and under eye area so it won’t transfer. I don’t suppose these will be good for those with oily lids.
I don’t have oily lids, but transferring or having to powder my lids for that purpose won’t really work for me. So I guess it’s a pass. Thanks, Lily!
I actually went back to test it a few times just to be sure…. and yes i do get some smudging with this on my lower lash line. But most of the chanel stylo yeux waterproofs feel really soft when they’re brand new though….. they dry up and get harder over time.
Oh that’s good to hear, i really wished Sepia went on better for me…. i love the color!
