Chanel Collection Superstition: Cream Blush

August 10, 2013

Happy long weekend everyone (at least for those of us here in Singapore)!! Can you believe we are in the month of August, and Fall 2013 has hit the stores everywhere?!?? As one of my Instagram friend said…death to my wallet!!

Everybody has been waiting anxiously for Chanel’s Fall 2013 Collection Superstition, and in particular, the brand’s latest Le Blush Creme de Chanel. There are 6 shades in total, of which 2 are limited edition (Fantastic & Presage), and the remaining 4 are permanent (Destiny, Revelation, Inspiration & Affinite). Here in Singapore, Fantastic is only available at Chanel Beauty boutiques at Ion and MBS.

Unfortunately, the Ion boutique was crowded to the max when I popped in (and I had baby in a stroller with me), so I couldn’t get pictures of Fantastic. Instead, the display at Robinson’s Raffles City duplicated Destiny as pictured below.

And here are the respective swatches:

As you can see from the swatches above, 3 of the shades run warm – Destiny, Revelation & Presage. The other 2 available here – Inspiration & Affinite – tend towards cooler. From what I glimpsed of Fantastic, it is also cool-based.

Even with a limited 6 shades, there is something for everyone (if not all!). I find most of them to be really flattering on me, which would make it quite suitable for almost everyone with an average light-medium complexion. I think Destiny may be the trickiest of the lot to pull off, but it is certainly much less scary when swatched on the skin than it looks in the pan.

Chanel describes the Le Creme blush as a “powder-cream formula with sheer yet vibrant pigments for instant luminosity, and a long-wear satin finish”.

I have tried many cream blushes in the past, and I must say that Chanel’s rendition tends more towards powder than a true cream blush. When you touch it in the pan, there is a noticeable moist feel but the product remains “hard” in the sense that you only disturb the top most layer. Once dabbed on the cheeks, it turns almost immediately into powder, and takes a bit more work to blend than a true cream. I actually preferred working this with a brush than with my fingers. What I loved, was that I was able to blend it easily with just about any brush I owned, to get a very pretty diffused glow. despite the very pigmented color in the pan.

Of course, I couldn’t leave the Chanel counter without bringing home at least one (or two)…

In terms of the wear time, I found Le Creme Blush de Chanel to wear over 8 hours when applied with a brush. However. when I tried dabbing it on with my fingers, the blush pretty much disappeared off my cheeks after 4 hours! How strange!

Unlike other Chanel blushes, Le Creme Blush de Chanel does not come with an accompanying brush. This allows the compact to be much more streamlined and pocket-friendly!

The smaller compact size is also partly due to the somewhat small amount of product in the compact – 2.5gm. However, at SGD58 each, it doesn’t break the bank like some other limited edition blush I got my eyes on…. And seriously, when was the last time you hit pan on a blusher??
