Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color in Alchimie

October 7, 2013

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week! What better way than to have a spanking new set of manicures to get the week moving along fashionably? As we head towards the Holiday season, I find myself reaching for those metallic hues, but with a bit of spunk. From Chanel’s Fall 2013 collection, here is Alchimie!

Chanel Le Vernis Alchimie

Chanel Alchimie Le Vernis Nail Color is described as a golden khaki, and looks like a metallic olive green tinged with yellow notes. I found the formula to be somewhat thinner than typical of Chanel nail colors, and required 2-3 coats to be nicely opaque. It also tended to streak quite a bit, and could not be completely eliminated regardless of the number of coats.

The bottle and bristle designs are pretty standard Chanel. I was happy to note that Alchimie seemed to last longer on me than the other Chanel polishes that I’ve tried so far!

Personally, I found Alchimie to be rather blah on my tips. It wasn’t as dark as what Nicole Kidman wore in Chanel’s FW 2013 campaign posters (and I hadn’t had any luck replicating her amazing eye look using Mystere), and the streaks just bugged me. And right after I put Alchimie on, I saw Musicalhouses’ everyday-wearable translation of Libertine’s NYFW nail look (here), and whipped out my own bottle of Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday (first reviewed here) to bling it up.

NOW, I’m in the holiday mood! And good thing too, ‘cos it looks like Chanel Le Vernis Alchimie is going to see me through Fall-Winter, and well into the Christmas countdown!
