Hello 2019! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your family and loved ones. My son started primary school yesterday, which is a new milestone for him and a whole new change for the entire household as we all have to adapt to his new schedule. In previous years I’ve made resolutions relating to (buying less) makeup and (doing more) social media, but this year I find my interests straying in a whole new direction. I’d like to commit to living more in the moment, finding new experiences and hopefully having more memorable vacations with my son. I may be back home but my heart and mind are still tethered to that glorious week spent in the Maldives, and in case you hadn’t seen our videos yet, please do subscribe and check out Ezra’s youtube channel here (shameless plug!).
It may seem odd to kick off the year with an empties post, but there is an immense sense of achievement when I am able to properly bin a bunch of products without a sense of waste, and to memorialise them here on my blog. 2019 had seen the launch of many brands in Singapore, not all of them new in the world, but they certainly took their time. There wasn’t anything earth-shatteringly innovative that I’d seen, and personally am feeling a little tired by many brands, with the exception of Chanel which keeps growing stronger with every season. As such, I find it difficult to select “bests” or “worsts” for the year, instead I go back to my staples many of which are perennial favourites as you will find out below.

The first quarter of the year is over in a blink, and now we are accelerating right into summer. 2018 has been a very productive start for me in many aspects of my life, though the ride has been bumpy with several members of my family falling severely ill. Nonetheless many seeds that were sowed last year are starting to germinate and take hold, so I’m looking forward to a fruitful harvest. On the beauty side of things, many of the brands that were once so elusive are now launching in Singapore – be sure to follow me on Instagram [@silverkis] to catch my stories on the latest launch parties! Not everything shiny and new are the best though, I discovered several HG products that I am going to share with you today.

It’s been an amazing year in many ways, and I hope you’ve enjoyed all the product reviews or introductions here on the blog. Reality is, it takes much more time to write a skincare/bodycare/haircare review than makeup. On the other hand, I think it is far easier to get through those products, and so I’ve taken to documenting my empties to better speak to my fondness of some of these stuff that never makes it to the blog. There are way too many to go into detail here, so please feel free to ask any questions in the comments section below!

It has been awhile since I reviewed any YSL makeup, and it feels to me that the brand has recently renewed its efforts to better engage with its fans. After what seems like a long hiatus, YSL is finally giving us new innovative products, rather than relying on fancy limited edition packaging to drive sales. So, armed with a fistful of new releases, let’s delve back into the world of YSL!

Korean beauty is making huge waves lately, and one of my favourite departmental stores in Singapore has just opened up an entire beauty hall dedicated to Korean brands! And when it comes to the crème de la crème, there is none as highly coveted as Sulwhasoo. This is a brand steeped in Asian heritage, and leverages on ancient wisdom to turn Korean medicinal herbs into effective beauty ingredients. Consistent with the high regard that Asians place on a fair and even skin tone as a standard of beauty, Sulwhasoo has developed a highly popular Snowise Brightening Line, and today I’d like to introduce 2 of their best sellers.

I am fast becoming a convert of La Prairie products, not merely because they are so luxe (oh that they are!), nor the gorgeous packaging… but the products that I have tried so far seem to bridge both realms of skincare and makeup perfectly. When you are spending a pretty penny, it helps to know that the skincare goes to work deep inside for the long-run whilst still making you look instantly prettier. Likewise, makeup with actual accountable skincare ingredients does make a difference in this over-crowded market! I have been testing out 2 new additions to the La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal collection, and would like to introduce them to you today.
