What do you get when you combine a passion for food and skincare? I’ve always known that the folks at Fresh love to use natural ingredients in their products, but it was still a surprise (a very exciting one!) when I first took a whiff and dipped my finger into their latest… Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy-Boosting Face Mask!

I’ve had a relatively bane-free adolescence, and my skin woes thus far had revolved around sensitivity due to dryness, eczema and the occasional zit or two. The last bottle of Mario Badescu Drying Lotion that I bought was from 2014… which gives you idea of how infrequently I needed it. But since the beginning of this year, my skin has taken a dramatic turn. You may have heard me lamenting it on several occasions here in the context of skincare, and I was determined to find the “cause” of the breakouts. It has taken me months to finally admit that those pesky zits that keep popping up and refusing to go away are not just the random hormonal/dietary insurgence, much less the result of inappropriate skincare, but a perpetual state of adult acne. The change in mindset has set me on a course to figuring out how to get things under control, and I am in the midst of rebalancing my skincare routine to learn to live with my adult acne. So, today I would like to share with you 5 basics that have made it into my daily life!

TGIF!! How was your week? I had a helluva hectic week at work and wasn’t planning to publish this post today, but I managed to free up a couple of hours and cut back on some much-needed sleep to pen down my thoughts on a couple of new masks from Kiehl’s. I adore Kiehl’s fuss-free, no-nonsense approach towards skincare; and have been enjoying the Kiehl’s Tumeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque and Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque for the past couple of weeks since I received them, so this will hopefully be in time to get you into the groove for their big 1 February launch!

Today I am very excited to be able to introduce Alene aka Paperkitties who blogs over at Paperkitties.com. We are fellow contributors for Ioninsider, and although there is a significant gap in our ages, I found Alene to be an old soul and incredibly easy to chat with. We have very different skin types, and I think her article today helps to fill an important gap that I’ve been unable to address effectively. So enjoy!

Does your skin go through seasons of change? Though I live in a tropical climate with no seasonal changes, I sometimes experience bouts of flare-ups or break-outs for no apparent reason at all. For the most part of this year, I’ve been enjoying super skin, but about 2 months ago I started breaking out. Initially I assumed it was the pollutive haze [please sign the petition at xthehaze.org and help us end this madness!] and spending less time indoors in an air-conditioned office. So I switched out my skincare and doubled up on deep cleansing, but the break outs just kept getting worse. The anti-blemish spot treatments I applied turned my skin patchy red and flakey. I was feeling utterly miserable until I finally broke open my jar of Tatcha Indigo Soothing Triple Recovery Cream. At the same time, I started using the Tatcha Indigo Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder, and would love to introduce both to you today!
