I may be a little behind the times, but it feels like I’ve only just gotten hold of the Lunasol Winter 2018 collection a few weeks ago. The first weeks of this year have been incredibly busy and with Ezra starting Primary School, I’m always out of the house before the sun rises, and dead asleep by 9pm. Initially I thought I’d have to do my makeup at work, but surprisingly the Lunasol Winter 2018 pieces are so easy to use that I’ve been living on it! Come take a look.

The onset of spring should be a time of celebration as sunshine returns and everything is new and fresh again. It has always perplexed me that spring makeup tends towards pale washed out hues, but Chanel has me all excited now with a whole new vivacious collection that is anything but ordinary. The new Vision d’Asie: L’Art du Detail Spring 2019 Collection seeks to sculpt the facial contours with pearly luminescence, and contrast that with vivid hues on the eyes and lush matte lips.

Hello 2019! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your family and loved ones. My son started primary school yesterday, which is a new milestone for him and a whole new change for the entire household as we all have to adapt to his new schedule. In previous years I’ve made resolutions relating to (buying less) makeup and (doing more) social media, but this year I find my interests straying in a whole new direction. I’d like to commit to living more in the moment, finding new experiences and hopefully having more memorable vacations with my son. I may be back home but my heart and mind are still tethered to that glorious week spent in the Maldives, and in case you hadn’t seen our videos yet, please do subscribe and check out Ezra’s youtube channel here (shameless plug!).
It may seem odd to kick off the year with an empties post, but there is an immense sense of achievement when I am able to properly bin a bunch of products without a sense of waste, and to memorialise them here on my blog. 2019 had seen the launch of many brands in Singapore, not all of them new in the world, but they certainly took their time. There wasn’t anything earth-shatteringly innovative that I’d seen, and personally am feeling a little tired by many brands, with the exception of Chanel which keeps growing stronger with every season. As such, I find it difficult to select “bests” or “worsts” for the year, instead I go back to my staples many of which are perennial favourites as you will find out below.

Merry Christmas! I trust that you are having a blessed time with your loved ones this holiday season. It has been an unbelievably busy month for me, and I spent a week in Maldives with my family doing absolutely nothing and it was the best ever! My 6-yo boy (with my help) will be posting up videos of the trip on his youtube channel (here!) starting with a feature of our seaplane ride, so please show some love by hitting the link to subscribe!
I received a ton of PR gifts this season and unfortunately was not able to share all of them here on the blog in time. Particularly, the wonderful folks at Lunasol sent across the entire AW2018 makeup collection a month ago. I was really torn between just posting pictures on Instagram for the sake of expediency, but as I dug into the individual pieces, I realized they’re really too beautiful to miss out on the blog. So am posting them here today, full swatches of everything and my quick thoughts on them – enjoy!

THREE Cosmetics has always favoured minimalistic functionality over excessive girlie frills in its product packaging, but I was still surprised by the stark black zippered pouch containing the latest Holiday 2018 palettes. Having relied on it for the past weeks though, I think the small palm-sized pouches and virtually destruction-proof packaging are absolutely brilliant for travels and on-the-go makeup. This season’s Art of Parties Collection feature 2 makeup palettes, and the one I have here is called Life of the Party.

Shu Uemura is all grown up at last!! After years of giving us kawaii holiday collections featuring furry Shuppette and Mario bros, and kitschy graphics from famed artists; Shu Uemura strikes out on a gourmet note this Holiday 2018 with La Maison du Chocolat! The collection puts a new spin to wearable art as each piece is perfectly wearable on a daily basis, and are scented (subtly and elegantly) to resemble the finest chocolates.
