How much makeup have you been wearing since the pandemic started?  I never thought I could ever leave my home without makeup, but since half my face is obscured anyway, I started to find makeup burdensome.  But mere mortal that I am, I still need a little bit of help looking professional for business zoom meetings.  So instead of a full face of foundation which feels unnecessary for my purpose, I have taken to swiping on concealer just under my eyes to look more awake.  And my choice weapon is the new By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Concealer!

By Terry has a whole range of wonderful base makeup products under the Hyaluronic Hydra line [you can find out more here].  Formulated for dry and/or matured skin in mind, they contain hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture to the skin.  The latest addition, By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Concealer is 87% skincare, making it perfect for the delicate under-eye area.  By Terry has also added Horse Chestnut seed extract to stimulate micro-circulation, so that dark circles are instantly brightened, micro-vessels are less visible, and skin looks more even.  Hydrophobic coated pigments ensure a long-lasting lumi-matte finish while mineral coated powders provide a soft focus, mattifying effect.

The Hydra-Concealers come in a sleek metallic pen-like tube with a wide brush applicator.  The concealer is dispensed by clicking on the back of the tube, and the brush head allows a seamless application directly on the face.  However, I found that a single click dispenses so much product it actually covers my entire face.  Since there is no good way to dispense fractional amounts, I deposit the entire dollop onto the back of my hand, and then use the brush to pick up smaller amounts to apply.

There are currently 6 shades available and I received 3 of the lighter shades.  I am somewhat perplexed by shades 100 & 200, because on my skin, 100 Fair appears darker due to its yellow undertone, whilst 200 Natural seems lighter with a pink undertone.  I suppose both would suit lighter skin tones, just pick the correct shade based on your actual undertones.   There is also a fairly wide gap in intensities between 100-200 and 300, I fall in between shades here, but since I am applying this mainly to lighten dark circles, 100 Fair works well for me.

Here is a half-faced comparison so you can see the difference By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Concealer makes.  I had so much product with 1 click that I blended it out over the rest of my face as well.  It effectively reduces my dark circles and the usual redness around my nose.  However, it does not completely cover blemishes and scars so you will need a separate concealer for that purpose.  What I really liked about the Hydra-Concealer is that it does not dry up nor cake up as the day progresses.  I am well past 40 now, so some fine lines under my eyes are inevitable, so I really appreciate a flattering concealer that does not cling to those lines!
