Burberry has really been upping their game recently, and even though I tried my best, resistance was futile. I hadn’t been following their releases closely because they are always late to launch in Singapore, and usually so limited in quantity I don’t stand a chance. But now with their online site, there was no more excuses! As soon as the London with Love Blush Palette became available, I grabbed it. And picked up 1 of those delectable Full Kisses lipsticks along the way to satisfy my curiosity.
I think fans will never tire of Burberry’s quintessentially British design, and that’s really part of their charm. So it is no surprise when their Summer 2016 collection comes titled London with Love. And at the heart of that collection are 2 face palettes, of which only 1 has made its way over to Singapore.
Burberry London with Love Blush & Highlighter Palette is a real beauty, and a collector’s dream. As aptly titled, the palette bears a perfectly-shaped heart in the center with the prettiest shade of pink you may imagine. And surrounding that heart is a lovely ivory highlighter that provides a visually contrasting pop. The entire palette is embossed with the signature twill of the Burberry scarf, and is a lovely touch.
Surprisingly, the palette swatches cooler than it looked in the pan. The blush shade is a medium salmon-pink with a neutral- to almost cool- undertone and a satin finish. The highlighter looked ivory almost barley in the pan, but swatches out a cool-toned white with a luminous shimmer finish. The powders are soft and finely-milled as is typical of Burberry. The pigmentation is a little on the lighter side, but so easy to pick up with a brush, I just got to harden my heart and go at it generously. Unfortunately, the embossed design wears down fairly quickly, already after just 1 use I found the Burberry letterings to have faded. On the face, the blush and highlighter go on beautifully for a natural flush, though it does fade towards the end of the day.
Back in Spring, Burberry released a new range of lip color called Burberry Full Kisses, which only just arrived in Singapore not too long ago. There are 14 shades to choose from but many of them seem to be out of stock. After consulting some of my Instagram-pals, I picked up Cherry Blossom and absolutely no regrets!! Cherry Blossom is a sweet pink that manages to stay pink without turning fuchsia, nor does it turn me ashen as so many other powder pinks do. It has just enough colour to it to look good worn on its own, and still pairs well with stronger eye makeup. I also love that it is quite long lasting for a balm-like formula, staying on for 4-5 hours before fading gently, and leaving a slight tint of colour even after eating and drinking!
The sleek pen is a major draw for me of course, the interesting shape had me at hello. The curved side hugs my lips as I slick it on, and 1 swipe gives a nice coat of colour. The flattened edge makes it easy to line the lips; and the formula is a lip-loving and moisturizing as it gets! On the other hand, these do not twist up nor down, and you have to be absolutely careful when closing the cap as I have already dinged my lipstick several times on all sides.
And here is a makeup look featuring Burberry London with Love Blush Palette on cheeks and Full Kisses Cherry Blossom on lips.
Do you manage to pick up any of these?!
