As promised, Bobbi Brown has a 2nd and even more exciting color makeup collection in store for us this Holiday 2016, and it’s utterly decadent! The Bobbi Brown Wine & Chocolate Collection is inspired by Bobbi’s 2 favourite things, and perfectly luxe and apt for Christmas.
I always have a tendency to zoom in on eyeshadow palettes, and the 2 from this collection are so unique in their composition and utterly beautiful I couldn’t resist.
The Bobbi Brown Chocolate [picture on right] and Wine [left] Eye Palettes comprise of 4 satin and shimmer eyeshadows, and 3 intense matte powder liner shades. Each palette retail for SGD90, which is a steal in my opinion.
I was very impressed when I first swatched the Bobbi Brown Chocolate Eye Palette, because each of the eyeshadow shades are gorgeously pigmented and so buttery smooth! They perform even better on the lids, which is really amazing. This is a neutral-lover’s dream-come-true, and each of the shades show up well against my roughly NC20-25 skin tone. The very first time I applied this to my eyes, I was blown away, and found myself reaching back for this Chocolate Eye Palette again and again since then.
Each of the shades is named and labelled on the back of the palette, and for your reference, I had swatched the eyeshadows in clockwise direction starting from top left (Ivory) and ending in the bottom left (Milk Chocolate). The 3 liner shades are housed in the combined pan along the bottom of the palette, and from left to right we have Cocoa Mauve, Navy and Black Chocolate.
Bobbi Brown’s liner shades are truly intensely pigmented, and even if they don’t seem to swatch all that smoothly, they pick up and apply perfectly with a dense angled liner brush, which is exactly the way they have been designed to be used. They may also be applied wet for even greater intensity and longevity, although I did not feel the need to at all. Do note that Navy swatched out more black than blue, and you are free to mix and blend the shade at will.
I was drawn to this Bobbi Brown Wine Eye Palette at first sight because of all the beautiful red tones and the mesmerizing shimmers in Pinot Noir & Black Cocoa. There is certainly a better range of colors here, which is exciting to me. However, I was surprised that the Malbec liner shade swatched so differently than it appeared in the pan.
I played with this palette so many times over the past month, in various placements and using different techniques; unfortunately I was disappointed to find that the shades did not apply as smoothly as the Chocolate Eye Palette, and they tended to fade and crease on my heavily hooded lids. If you don’t normally experience these sorts of problems though, you will probably do fine with this Wine Palette, and I do love the shades and recommend you at least check it out!
I always loved Bobbi Brown’s glitter as they are so fine and incredibly pretty on the eyes. This season, there are 3 Bobbi Brown Sequin Eye Shadows [SGD53 each] to choose from:
Each of these shades have a semi-sheer base, and are best used patted above a darker eyeshadow base. The combination lends the look greater depth, and the multi-coloured shimmers give the eyes an irresistible glimmer. I do experience some fallout with these though, so I highly recommend using them over a good eye shadow primer and to pat on with a damp brush or some sort of fixer.
The Wine & Chocolate Collection comes with 2 very special, limited edition Bobbi Brown Brightening Blush [SGD78 each]. These are ultrasoft and almost-creamy to the touch, and are nicely pigmented and easy to blend out for a natural flush. I love that they contain a colored blush and 2 strips of lighter shades for blending and a bit of luminosity.
There are 2 shades to choose from, Pink Truffle which was pictured on the left in the product shot earlier, and Warm Cocoa on the right. I have swatched each of the color strips in order, and also a blended swatch for you to get an idea of how it will look realistically.
Both Pink Truffle and Warm Cocoa are warm-toned, which is nice for adding some warmth to the skin as we get into sub-zero climate. It also complements the rest of the collection beautifully, and I’m personally really attracted by Warm Cocoa!
Lastly, there are 2 amazing nude lipsticks from the Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color [SGD45 each] formula. These are Tawny (pictured on left) and Uber Nude (right), and are new and limited edition shades.
I was surprised and completely in love with how the 2 pulled more reddish brown than beige brown against my skin tone, and they really look lovely and endlessly classy with anything!
And to put everything in perspective, here is a full makeup look featuring the Wine Palette on my eyes and Uber Nude on lips!
There are also 2 nail polishes in this collection which I did not get around to swatching at the preview. For those of you who were hoping to get a hold of the 25th Anniversary Lip Collection [swatched here], it will be restocked and made available together with the launch of this Wine & Chocolate Collection on 1 December 2016 in Singapore!! So hurry down to your nearest Bobbi Brown counter bright and early!

I was going to get the Wine palette!! But I forgot and that’s the end of story. I love all the colours in that palette! Dang. But you know that feeling when you want something but not so badly to hunt it down?
lol!! yes i know that feeling very very well, Lily!!!
Great review of a beautiful collection. Red browns were my go to lipstick for so many years that I was not all that into makeup and once I got in deeper, I diversified– a whole lot. But no one does red browns like Bobbi Brown. And this is definitely the season for it. Thank you. I will look for Tawny. It’s just such a classic BB red brown.
Definitely look up Tawny, Alison. I don’t usually wear brown lipsticks, but as you said, these red-browns are irresistible!
OMG, this is such a beautiful collection! Such a beautiful look you have created. x
