Bobbi Brown Havana Brights Collection

It’s Friyay!!!  And there’s no better way to welcome the weekend than with the energizing bold hues of Bobbi Brown’s latest Havana Brights Collection!

Bobbi Brown Havana Brights Collection for Spring 2017

Bobbi Brown’s latest Spring-Summer 2017 makeup collection is inspired by the capital city of Cuba, where the sunset is a bright crimson and houses are painted colourful hues.  The Havana Brights Collection feature 2 drop-dead sexy Illuminating Cheek Palettes, and a heart-palpitating range of 16 Art Stick Liquid Lipsticks!

Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip

Liquid lipsticks are all the rage lately, and Bobbi Brown’s latest rendition is not only cute and fun, they are also really gorgeous.  Built upon the success of the Art Stick franchise, the new Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lipstick is designed to resemble a giant crayon, with a clear see-through body that allows you to immediately tell the color of the product.

The innovative and fun element of this design is that the body is like a giant squeeze tube, and the slanted tip applicator resembles lip balms.  Its quite convenient if you only have 1 free hand to apply your lip color with; and is the easiest to clean (simply wipe the tip after each use with a tissue) and does not taint the rest of the contents.

There are 16 shades to choose from, and I managed to swatch 15 of them here for your reference:

I’ve been testing several liquid lipsticks lately (a comprehensive review coming your way soon!), and these rank quite highly in my favorites list.  They are intensely pigmented, so much so that a tiny drop is sufficient to provide opaque cover for my entire lip.  The texture is akin to a dense cream that floats over the lines on my lips, and leaves a velvety matte finish.  It doesn’t dry out my lips too much, but I do feel more comfortable with a thin layer of balm beforehand.  The density of the product combined with the high pigmentation makes this perfect for wearing full-on bold, but you can also just as easily blend things down for a more office-friendly look using a separate brush or even just a finger.  Tap on a different shade in the center of the lips to create your own ombre effect!

Bobbi Brown Peach Illuminating Cheek Palette

After wowing us with their awesome cream Cheek Glow Palettes earlier this year [see here], Bobbi Brown is now releasing a couple of 3-pan powder cheek palettes for the warmer months ahead.  The Bobbi Brown Illuminating Cheek Palette features a bronzer, blusher, and highlighter (arranged in that order from left to right) in a slim, compact palette.  There are 2 color combinations to choose from, the lighter and slightly cooler-toned palette shown above is the Peach Illuminating Cheek Palette, and here are the swatches:

The bronzer in the peach palette contains some shimmers, and is quite pigmented so I recommend using it only on the cheeks.  It blends out easily enough though, and the color works well on my skin tone to give a healthy, sun-kissed glow.  The highlighter is a stunning champagne rose with a almost foiled, metallic finish.  Blusher in the center is a medium salmon pink with a soft satin finish and no shimmers.

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Cheek Palette - Guava

For darker and warmer toned ladies, you should check out the Illuminating Cheek Palette in Guava.  Here are the swatches:

The bronzer in Guava is slightly less shimmery than the one in Peach, and the visible shimmers mostly fall away when applied with a loose fluffy brush.  The highlighter is interesting to me because it has quite a strong pink/reddened base to it that this picture isn’t quite picking out properly; combined with a golden overlay.  I found the pigmentation to be so intense, it works best applied on the apples of my cheeks, rather than all over the high points of my face.

Bobbi Brown Havana Brights makeup look

I wanted to show you full lip swatches along with the cheek palettes, but life has been a little hectic lately, and my skin has not been taking well to all the flying.  Hopefully the swatches above are helpful, and here is a makeup look featuring the Illuminating Cheek Palette in Guava on my cheeks.  I applied the bronzer on the sides of my cheekbones, pulling into the hairline in a triangular shape to create a sleeker silhouette.  Thereafter I tapped the blusher on the apples of my cheeks in a downwards triangular shape and blended along my cheek bone.  I swept a tiny bit of the highlighter from the Peach palette on the tops of my cheeks and the leftovers on my nose ridge just for some fun.  On the lips I’m wearing a mix of Havana Coral and Naked Pink (in the center).  I should note that these Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lips do transfer fairly easily, but they do not migrate and are fairly long lasting if left on their own.

Bobbi Brown travel makeup brush set

Before I leave you to your weekend musings, I want to share with you the news that Bobbi Brown has redesigned their makeup brushes!!  They now come with sleek black handles, and having sneaked these on my Instagram, it seems that everybody is really embracing the new look!

To complete your Bobbi Brown Havana Brights collection, be sure to check out the neon coral pink makeup pouch and mini Face Blender Brush that are shown in the first feature image of this blog post.  I won’t spoil the surprise for you, but the pouch is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and features 3 expandable pockets so you can keep your palettes, singles, lipsticks and whatever else safely separated when you travel.  The brush is so soft and the perfect size for blending blushes, bronzers and even face powder.  Everything is out in stores now, and limited edition of course (save for the black-handled makeup brushes which are permanent), so be sure to check them out for yourself!

    • They are super pigmented indeed! And all the colors are so sweet!

  • Love the post Linda, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Am I the only one that’s not feeling the Art Sticks Liquid Lip craze? I like them a lot, but I don’t love them, hence I gave myself more time to play with them before doing a review. Will keep on trying though. Love the new brushes too, although I prefer the old design somehow? Hopefully the quality is still top notch, I love BB brushes! xx

    • Hi Elena, I like these better than the Burberry ones… 😉 There are so many options these days, so I can completely understand if you prefer something else! I am definitely for the black handles though… the brown ones were feeling quite dated to me. ;P

  • The packaging is amazing and has reeled me in already! I saw the Art Sticks at the airport last week and Hot Tangerine and Papaya were my faves as so me but due to the inconvenience of ‘having to catch my flight’ I had to go! LOL! So I need to go back but this collection is so exciting and so happy! Great post Linda! Kelly xx

    • Ohh lala Hot Tangerine and Papaya are definitely hot shades! I can definitely see you wearing them!

  • Lily

I really like the liquid Art sticks too. I tried out Plum Noir the other day, and it didn’t transfer after it sets. I had sushi and drinks all day, and when I checked 5 hours later, my lips still looked fresh. Even after blotting! I can’t say the same about a bigger greasier meal though. I think I have to get Plum Noir and Perfect Nude. I have Vintage Pink and Papaya and they’re both gorgeous 🙂

    • Interesting! I need to give these another try again… might be a lip balm i used before applying… although i’m not sure in blurry-eyed mornings.
